Rock hounding is one of the memories of my childhood. It allows me to respect my ancestors by learning how to find, shape, and present the beautiful wonders that nature can provide, while also giving the thrill of the find, that loud WOOHOO when something never been seen glints sunlight back my eye. Always remember the rules for all wilderness users... Leave no trace!
Before I can cut one, I must find two. So if I only have one, or worse, none... Expect me to be looking for another one :) And as my wife says when I ask her what shape she wants, when asked what rock I want.. "All of them"
My most exciting find: My loving and supportive wife, Beth.
My favorite places to look for treasure: Deep underground in some dark corner of a mine... or just the cellar of an old rock hound, either way, them rocks gotta come out of the ground sometime.
My favorite treasure hunting techniques: Learn the geography, understand the material, use the power of Google.
My treasure hunt toolkit contains... A good pick, a couple chisels, small sledge, gad bar, gloves, safety glasses, compass, maps, GPS, camera, and some nibbles for the hike.
I'm presently hunting for... I got a little everything, if you wanna trade, ping me.
Recommended treasure hunting resources: If you search for any mineral with a location name, you will find many sites covering fact and legend. I recommend people first learn the general information about what they hunt, like simple geology is important for a rockhound.
