My Best Places to Find Cash and Treasure
1. Consolidated Feldspar mines,Georgetown, Maine- a lot of green and blue tourmaline, light colored beryl crystals on the quarry walls, there was a massive feldspar crystal on the quarry wall.
2.Moat Mt., Conway area, New Hampshire- many small smokey quartz crystals, topaz, feldspar crystals (I found a 1 1/2 long inch feldspar crystal surrounded in shiny albite crystals at this location), albite, mica (Also can be found in crystals), fluorite, amazonite, quartz, and other interesting minerals
3.Masslite Quarry, Massachusetts- different fossils, calcite, and pyrite. Only mineral clubs can access this active quarry.
4.Mt. Apatite, Auburn, Maine- garnet, beryl, tourmaline (Some elbaite), quartz, albite, a lot of other minerals
5.Other mines such as Palermo 1 mine, North Groton, New Hampshire- Minerals that can be found are rare phosphates, quartz (clear and smokey crystals) mica, albite (crystals), beryl (Aquamarine and morganite which is pink), tourmaline, apatite, flourapatite, and a lot of other minerals. At this location i found a large aqua colored beryl crystal in a matrix of quartz. This mine is a very interesting place for mineral collectors who are especially interested in phosphates.
Chipman Silver Mine, Newbury,Massachusetts- This mine consists of a shaft, a mine dump area, and many small trenches. It is located in the woods near a group of houses. At this location galena, pyrite, siderite, and many other minerals can be fond here. About three weeks ago, my friend and I were cracking open rocks of solid galena and pyrite at this location. To find the good stuff here, you have to dig in the dump areas.
Pitts Tenny Quarry, Minot, Maine- This is a location where bright orange garnets of mammoth size can be found. This variety of garnet is called Grossular. There is also calcite, diopside, scapolite, and more minerals. At this mine, I found a large garnet that was the size of a baseball last time I was there. Garnets clusters over three feet long have been found here. Very interesting place to go to.
