More about me...
First off I'm pretty new at all this rockhounding stuff. That's why I don't consider myself a ROCKHOUND but just a RockPuppy. I know I have lots to learn.

How I first got into treasure hunting...I'm sure it probably runs in the family, I had two grandfathers who were into mining gold and gems. Other than that I've always been one of those who picked up rocks and shoved them into my pockets. I'm pretty silly looking sometimes while out camping and boating wearing saggy shorts with bulging pockets.

My treasure hunting obsession(s): Right now I think my favorite rock is Jasper. I love Jasper. I also really enjoy hunting for thundereggs, petrified wood, and sifting for sapphire. I can also say I'm bordering on being totally obsessed with lapidary. I love to see what looks like an ordinary rock totally transformed into something beautiful.
My most exciting find:
Besides David and the new friends I have been meeting here, I have to say an 8.43 ct blue Sapphire from an ElDorado Monster Mine bag brought home from Spokane Bar Mine, Helena, MT My favorite places to look for treasure: Right under my feet!

My favorite treasure hunting techniques:

My treasure hunt toolkit contains... Depends on what we're going after. It could include picks, shovels, crowbars, chisels, screwdrivers, hammers, spray bottles, buckets, gold pan, and screens. Also must always remember to bring plenty of drinking water, sunscreen, and a first aid kit.

I'm presently hunting for... Anything and everything. For our upcoming trip we will be looking for fossils, I'm hoping we'll find crabs in particular, along hwy 6 and psuedocoprolites, agate, and petwood at Salmon Creek outside of Toledo, WA

Recommended treasure hunting resources: Cash&Treasures, this Treasure Hunter Wiki, OreRockOn DVD, books, maps, internet, friends, and old timers.

Anyone having any luck? Our first venture out all we found was a BIG puddie tat (we'll leave that area alone) and last weekend our luck was a little better. Found some nice calves brains, a few ticks, and 1 morel and now I've just heard that several morels were found in a schoolyard just down the road. Think we may have to go out sometime this weekend. =)
