Snail from Astoria Formation
This shell is darn near perfect!

Snail from the John Day Formation near Clarno, OR
Walking a fence line next to a blue-green ashbed, this little guy stood out quite a bit in the desert!

My desk shelf
I don't collect rocks and fossils.. what would give you that impression?

More about me...

How I first got into treasure hunting...

My treasure hunting obsession(s): Started in 1983 when I became obsessed with Mt. St. Helens as a toddler.

My most exciting find: Fossilized snail shell from the Clarno formation or my pectin concretion from the Astoria Formation

My favorite places to look for treasure: Everywhere! You just have to know where to look!

My favorite treasure hunting techniques: Staring at the ground while walking around.

My treasure hunt toolkit contains... Masonry hammer, files, chisels, a bag, camera, notebook, water, larger whackum smackum hammer

I'm presently hunting for... awesome localities which are not overly popular

Recommended treasure hunting resources: Roadside Geology Series, NARG, lots of web research and lots of foot work!

Pectin concretion from Lincoln formation
I found this concretion while running at full speed down the beach as a large "sneaker" wave was approaching, I saw it in the rocks and grabbed it as if another player had lost it on a "fumble" then ran to high ground for the touchdown! I sure showed that wave! it hit a handful of others but not me!

Petrified and opalized wood
Various bits of petrified and opalized wood from a location near Mitchell, OR
