Hey Tall Tom, I think your work with our native Americans is cool. I have neighbors just north of me who are Lakota Sioux. Great people. They have 4 of
the nicest looking quarter horses that I've ever seen. It's great to see them out riding, dressed in their native clothing. If the husband has time this
summer, he's going to try to teach me how to hand knap arrow points. I'm always willing to learn something new. I have a good supply of obsidian, so it
won't matter if I make a few mistakes along the way. I never did the drug thing, but was heavy into booze. One rare sober day I decided that if I didn't quit,
I'd end up dead in a ditch somewhere. I quit cold turkey. Probably the hardest thing I've ever done. Last drink, July 14, 1984. Now if only I could give up
smoking. lol Don

Hey Tom, How thick of slabs would you use on those table tops? I may have some slabs of petrified palm fiber that I could send you. Good solid stuff
from the Calico Mts. in Southern Cal.
The Minelab X-Terra 70 is a good all around machine. I bought one a year ago. They're light weight for us old goats, and can be used for relic and gold
hunting. The coils are water proof, so they can be used in shallow streams too.

From the table tops I have seen and from those I have talked to the average thickness of the pieces that were used for the table tops was three eights of an inch. I have been slicing agates and pet wood and am jsut about to have enough for my first attemp at making one. Another member posted how his dad used to make them and another member had an uncle who used to make them also and shared that methode with me. So I hope to have my first one completed this summer when it is armer in the garage. right now it would be too cold to do anything.

Hey Tom,
I cut all of my cabbing slabs at a quarter inch. I may still have some palm fiber rough, but I'll have to wait till the snow melts to find out. I can't get into my
storage shed right now. I've got some nice big chunks of old stock Arizona pet wood. Got them from an old timer who collected them before it was
illegal to collect in what is now the Petrified Forrest National Park. Really colorful stuff. I've cut some beautiful cabs out of it.

Quarter inch is what I cut for cabs also and I was planning on trying that same dpthe for the table pieces. One of the ways I have been told to make the tables would lend itself real well to pieces of that thicknwss. I have acqiured the material to make the frame and now just have to wait out the cold. since the acrylic don't work real good in freezing garages,,lol

Hey Tom, Just as soon as I can get into my storage shed, I'll see what I can dig out. I'll need an address to send it to. No cost. Just glad to help a
fellow rockhound. You can reach me at rkhnd8580@gmail.com.

Hey tom, don't think I have any Oregon eggs. I'll have to fire up the old flat lap, so I can add them to my collection. I'm not against trading, But just
thought I could help you out with some wood that you probably don't have.
