More about me...

How I first got into treasure hunting...So many years ago, I used to hunt arrowheads in New Mexico. After seeing many old homestead sites, I bought my first metal detector. It seemed a natural transition. Then there was the gold panning--- sapphire panning, etc.

My treasure hunting obsession(s): England and the beach. I love to hunt both- hence the name Texas trapped. My wife and I collect and hunt most anything. In addition to above, sea shells, Fossil fish, Oregon agates- you name it!

My most exciting find: Four come to mind- 1916-D merc. Watch fob made from a gold and garnet necklace and lost by a member of the 7th cavalry. Roman dolphin- 2000 years old and a roman or celtic sword pommel, again 2000 years old.

My favorite places to look for treasure:England and the beach. I also have hunted coal mining towns, indian war forts.

My favorite treasure hunting techniques: Name it. I have panned, detected, eyeballed, sifted. I work slow and meticulous with my detector and rarely come away empty handed. I love to talk to groups about the hobby.

My treasure hunt toolkit contains...A fishing vest for finds. Minelab explorer detector. Whites MXT also. Pans and sluices not seeing much use lately.

I'm presently hunting for...places to hunt in Texas. I am new here and haven't made the connections yet. Also love to travel and hunt with others to make new friends.

Recommended treasure hunting resources: The various forms are great. Interested in sapphires- Spokane sapphire mine web site. You can order gravel and check as home.
