I am new to panning gold but have passionate interest in it. I have heard that Quartsville has old claims but probably not much left. I am looking for some out of the way creeks or other secluded spots. Any suggestions?

Hey ya Ladies and Gents,
I am going to try to sneak over to Central Oregon next weekend (Nov 14th-15th) if the weather is nice and hit the limb cast areas. I saw a huge pink limb cast at an antique mall on the coast last weekend and now I've got the "fever" to find one of my own. Anyone care to share their favorite spots either int he forum or in a personal message with me? :) It will just be me and my hubby going and what's said in the treehouse stays in the tree house (if you are picking up what I am throwing down). Also, would anyone like to come with? I have room for two more in my rig or we could meet up in Prineville. :)

Hello my precious dirt nerd family! I am finding myself blessed to be headed to the central oregon coast (Beverly Beach and Lincoln City) two weekends in a row in a week or so.
I am just wondering if anyone would like to share their favorite locality in the area, on or off the beach? I have some favorite spots for agates near Cape Meares and I have Tim's DVD and Gem Trails of Oregon so I am <i>aware<i> of these localities, personal stories? I've heard there is pyrite at Otter Rock in clay and we're going to explore the Augite off Hwy 6 on the way in. The hubby is less into fossils than shiny rocks but I love it all! :) Thanks ahead for sharing guys and gals. :)

I've only been to Quartz Creek for thunder eggs a couple times but I love digging up there. The last time I was there I drove around the roads for about 10 maybe 15 miles trying to find the second location where the geodes are found but I had no luck. I found a road cut with some smaller thundereggs about the size of berries but none were hollow. It was just a clay road cut anyway. Does anyone have any idea where the geode location is up there and can you kindly post directions. Thanks for your help. Happy hunting everybody.

Where are the best places to look for treasures in Michigan. I have been thinking about taking a metal detector to and around some of the old train station sights.

HI there everyone,
This is something my brain has been wrapped around since I was a kid. I am not a kid anymore but can't get rocks off the brain. We have no money and so for fun I have been taking the kids to rock hunt in some creeks from here to the in-laws house. I would live it if you all would give us some ideas where we can go for fun and great rock/treasure hunting in southwest Washington. Thanks, Netty Jeanette Weaver
