"ukigumo, Sorry for the slow reply. I just today discovered the discussion page here. All the Fluorites I posted pics of came from the same construction site last winter in Connecticut. It is now an active large construction site and they don't want people there, so I haven't mentioned the exact location. I can later, after unfortunately, all the good stuff will be under a Home Depot." Thanks for the info. Home depot needs to put their construction on hold and let you on an excavator. The rock shop by us said a nearby Walmart construction site had yielded a bunch of amethyst. . We are in South Carolina and were hoping to add some nice agates to our collection. We were confused by this webpage and thought your pics were from Alabama. We are going to really check out fresh construction now.

There are some wonderful photos of the Saddle Mt. trip, but this is my favorite of the bunch. This would be a great shot for a brochure or magazine to show the "family fun" of rockhounding. Andy, I like your watch too!

"From what I could find on the internet, Cycads are more closely related to modern day pine trees. I have a Cycad growing in a pot in my front room. Commonly known as a Sago Palm. One of the oldest plants still surviving. An interesting note. Sago Palms contain a poison that can kill pets, and make adult humans very sick. --- Don" Cool plants, I left mine out in the snow last fall and it didn't make it. Have been eyeing one out at Lowe's waiting till the price drops. I think your right even the bugs don't care for them. I guess they have a weird sex life (the plant) Maybe related to the Palms here. First of all, welcome aboard the best treasure hunting wiki to be found. You don't say where you'll be heading north from, or where you're heading to. If you'll look back in the archives of the Treasure Hunter program, you should be able to find the location where Kirsten collected the electric blue obsidian. I have several slabs and an approximately 20 pound chunk that was collected in Northern California back in the 50's. It's beautiful material, which polishes into beautiful cabs. Good luck on the hunt. Don

The rock crop circle is a tongue-twister to me. I just like rock circle. I recently went by a corn field during a vacation and thought of crop circles that could be made in it. Of course, the farmers wouldn't appreciate that. I do want to go to The British Isles someday and see some real crop circles. People I knew from a book club said that the energy was amazing in the middle of one.

Hi Dan, just wondering where you got this beautiful blue forest limb? I know of the blue forest by Fontinell (spelling?) but I did not know there was a blue forest by Big Sandy... just wondering if you know where to look for more of this in the Big Sandy area. ( I promise, I wont leave a gigantic pot holed scattered landscape like the people looking around Fontenelle Dam)

From the photo this looks really close to a fossilized little neck clam. I have found several in the Naselle, Washington area. Hard to tell without an exterior view. If the outside has small ridges then I am pretty sure that's what you have!! Rock-on!!

it's a typical First Creek "geode" (actually a amygdule, a crystal filled vesicle that occurs in basalt at that site. There are no marine fossils in the basalts at the First Creek sites.

"VN and a great pleasure to view your post. Keep on RockN. What kind of camera R U useing? Aman" Hi Aman, Canon Powershot, macro. A big improvement on my old Polaroid, however, I could definitely learn some better photography technique. LOL. I give credit to B.J., and Jake for the find. Bob described the crystal types and area, which fortunately we found downstream, and Jake for the initial zeroing in on the types of rocks to find the crystals in. Man Jake is a natural rockhound. He has almost a sixth sense for rocks. Very nice cool guy. Thanks, Aaron

Actually, my wife has very little interest in rocks. She thought that one was " kind of cute", and tossed it in the bucket. She used to go houndin with me, just to get away from the house for a few days. Now every time she walks the dog, she comes home with a pocket full of mostly leaverites for the tumbler. ------ Don

Hi Willi. Actually, my wife found this one. We collected an icecream bucket full of Chalcedony roses that day. This was the prize of the day. Andy's picture of the Alien Agate is on page 49 of the photo gallery. I sent him a message, to let him know that I had a mate for his agate. Shure wish we'd get an update on Tom. Don
