a friend recently showed me some agates found at the beach here. they were amber colored....they say from iron oxydation?, with some clear and some darker areas, and you can see light through them. i looked for them myself and found several. how can i be sure they're agates, and if so, do they have any monetary value? also, is there any way other than using a tumbler, to polish them? one more thing, please... does anyone know about how to identify jade and malachite? thankyou

Anyone know of places to hunt Alaska? Not interested in Gold (it's everywhere here). More interested in fossil / minerals ect. I live on the Kenai Pennisula.
