Some may dispute the title "Rarest Gemstone in the World". I have had this discussion many times, and there is really no question. The facts: up until 2006 from the time it was first discovered, benitoite was listed as the rarest gemstone. In 2006, the National Jewelers Association were the ones to name red beryl the rarest, no other organization has. Fact: Red Beryl is found in more than on location in Utah. Gem and specimen quality benitoite can only be found on one 40 acre piece of land on earth.
