On a Sunday morning under cloudy and questionable skies my son Jason and I left the Tri-Cities, heading up river roughly 85 miles to meet up with Tim & Sharon who were coming from Yakima. We had agreed to meet early at 8:30 just south of the Vantage Bridge. Our mission was to locate and collect some wonderful specimens of common opal as well as to pick up some nice pieces for the rock garden back home.
