When I first went to Finney Creek, I wasn't looking for jade but rather hematite, as noted in Bob Jackson's guide book. I don't know that i found it that first trip ( I was digging in the schisty roadcut, but not the ones up Gee Point, as the road was blocked. My last trip to the creek, last week, I brought alone some magnets ( as there is so much serpentinite up there it is a very quick diagnostic tool too discredit it as jade.) That's how I was able to figure out the hematite finally. One boulder I found i picked up (or tried to pick up0 surprised me and I nearly through-out my back....that's some heavy rock man! :-) Great book Bob.
