| Finney Creek Jade Gallery Page 2 |
| Group shot of first photo shoot, including one stone from Deer creek. | |
| FirstFind | My first maybe jade from the lower reaches of Finney creek. A lot of maybes coming up, but I really like the material coming from this locality, weather it is jade or no. it sure beats the upper reaches and the serpentinite is almost all weathered away to nothing, so it's a lot easier hunting. |
| BlueEyeIce | BlueEyeIce This is one spectacular rock. Yes it is translucent, and in some areas you can make out a greener color underneath the blue. The coloration is very similar to the Blu Easter Egg rock from Grandy Creek. Notice the black areas...the white is an unknown. Though similar there are differences, one being depth of color, another translucency and a third possibly being the nature of the white areas. none-the-less, I will be taking careful note next trip to Grandy Creek. |
| GreenPaw | The internal color here isn't half bad. note how much lighter the rind is to the fracture. vaguely paw shaped. |
| GreenStuff1 | Hmm, I just don't know. subtranslucent I guess. It's texture or something doesn't seem right. Maybe a chert? |
| GreenTiger | GreenTiger because of the black stripes. more white veins. translucent nice green (slideshow pics need to be re-shot though, this picture captured the color well though, as do some of the close-ups). doubt on this beauty is near zero. |
| TikiTablet | Well back to the age old question...jasper? You know I hope it's jade (the slight greenish tinge and translucent areas give me a little hope...but we know the likely answer). Nice rock though. |
| TransBrown | Wtf is this? Translucent brown? (maybe just sub) Are those dark areas crystal inclusions? Why is part of it green? I've never seen anything like it. |
| WhiteSpottedEgg | I'm taking this to be a very typical washington jade. it seemed there was lots of similar stuff that didn't quite meet the criteria for jade, but this one has it in spades. Translucent, heavy, waxy and hard. |
| YellowRed | Coloration=jasper weathering=quartzite wishful thinking=jade. |
| | I found this one the day before my birthday which falls on "Talk Like a Pirate Day"...notice how the black area looks like an eyepatch...neat. The slide show is worth watching to see the great greens on this one. The black here is not serpentinite. I once knew what the black lines were but have forgotten...will look into it soon. |
