These are pictures that Jeff and I took while at the Ginko Petrified Forest State Park in WA this last fall of 2008. We were on a rock hunt with Tim and Sharon and of course Karma, Andy and Willi, Dave and Livy. The rock hunt didn't go as expected so we decided to come the to the park to see what was here. These are a bunch of pictures in no real order. Jeff sort of went nuts with the Indian Petroglyphs and carvings that were relocated to the park site before the dam was build and they would have been flooded and lost forever.

Part of the park is the trail hike where you tour an area several miles away from the visitor center. There are different types of petrified wood that can be seen during the hike. I could not make the hike due to terrain and length. These are a few pictures of Tim, Sharon and Karma, Willi, and Dave and Livy. The hikers will have to share the pictures of the wood they saw on the hike.

Willi is out hunting for agates and pet wood in the parking lot. She was just getting started here.What do you mean that rock isn't anything!!!! She was rock hunting the whole time the guys were out on the walk. Of corse being a state park she didn't keep anything.

They are really up there. 3 little people right on the ridge top.


This is about it. We didn't gather anything rocks however it did cost use when we all went to the gift shop. Well, we did bring home rocks, just expensive ones. lol

Wonderful Pictures!! Excellent side trip that everyone passing through that area should stop and experience. The scenery and landscape of the area is awesome, the museum is world renowned, and the exhibits of the various species of Petrified wood that have been discovered and identified are spectacular to say the least.
