| Description of the find:Brown Diamond Details (age, weight, dimensions, etc): 49 points (1/2 carat) The story behind my find:Well it's a funny story and here it goes. On May 21, 2005 my wife and I got married so for our honeymoon we decided to go to the Crater of Diamonds. Friday we left out from Boyd, Tx and arrived late Saturday morning about 1am. So we slept in and finally got up to go tour the town. After looking around town we arrived at the Visitor Center. We went in and looked around at the exhibits. Then we headed for the tool counter to get our stuff to help us find diamonds. We hiked up the hill , filled up a bucket and went to the sifting station. As we are screening our dirt it starts to rain not hard but enough to get wet and weigh down our shoes. So we decided to head out and get cleaned up for dinner. Sunday 5/29/05 we got up and packed up the truck to head back home. So we wanted one more shot at the mine. So we got our tools and headed off again. As we hiked up the hill we fiiled our bucket again and headed to the sifting station. Since it rained the mud stuck to our shoes. So when Rebecca and I got to the station I cleaned my 10 pound shoes off. So we sifted that batch first and to our surprise we found one in 30 minutes of being there. So we went to the visitor center and everyone didn't beleive our story. I think we had most of the staff around and Rachel Engebrecht came out to see what was going on. She started laughing in amazement and they rang the bell (siren) and got our picture. Rachel sent this story and picture into the local paper too. So we have our honeymoon diamond, a funny story to tell and each other. Wow, what a great story and how wonderful that it was your honeymoon to boot, or should I say "to shoe"? LOL. Doesn't matter where you find them, as long as you do! As an Arkansas native, I am glad to see your story here and sure that your wife is happy that your shoes are such a great tool, you do still have them don't you? LOL.
