Is this a fossil or just a rock
I found a rock in northwest IL. on the Mississppi river bason and I would like to know if it is a fossil or a rock.

Could be a foosilized coral too,need more pics to really see the species......

It has been 60+ years since I took a paleo class, but you would probably need a thin section and a microscope to make any id, but a local professor might know. Good Luck William King
