| Jade Gallery Page 2 Misc Localities |
| NookBot North Fork Nooksack River | This is definitely botryoidal, but of what? The internal color hints jade, but it could be anything. The North Fork of the Nooksack seems to have a little bit of everything, but not a lot of anything. Unfortunatly the bubbles are weatherd down, but are still evident. The blue color is real, and would be the internal color throughout. Compare with 'VeryWedged' from Pilchuck (JG v. 2.0 Pilchuck pg1) |
| NookWhat North Fork Nooksack River | This is most likely a jade slick |
| Dragon Grandy Creek | This is rodingite or some other variety of metasomatic rock thereby associated, with hard green slicks riddled within. It is very heavy. We call it the Dragon because my Brother-in-law wants to carve a dragon's head out of it. The green is apparently epidote after another mineral (maybe olivine). |
| Green and Blue Viening Grandy Creek | These viening pieces confound me. The green is serpentiny but the blues are harder. The opaque green masses are hard as well. These await the testing. The dark areas appear to be serpentinite, being attracted to a magnet. Little hope of any of this being jade...just interesting....maybe talc or soapstone and serpentinite... |
| Blue Vien 1 Grandy Creek | |
| Blue Vien 4 Grandy Creek | |
| Green and Blue Grandy Creek | Apparently the left is serpentine and the right jade with rodingite in the middle! If the blue isn't jade I'm at a loss as to what it is. |
| Odd Blue Vien Grandy Creek | Since I was posting my blue viens of whatever, here's an odd one. It's not the same stuff at all, just a curiosity. |
| Dark Globular Grandy Creek | There's enough jade going on here to put in the pile. The darker the specimen the more serpentiny it is. None the less, the bubbles are jade. |
| Dark Globular 2 Grandy Creek | See above, but less hope for this one. I forgot how hard this one is, I'll have to get back to it. |
| Light Globular Grandy Creek | The botryoidalism on this one is much more evident...Lighter colors, better jade content. As always, the black is likely serpentinite unless its internal. In which case I believe its...something else... |
| Pilchuck Fracture | Notice the black internal inclusions once again. The splintery fracturing on this piece is very evident. You can see its fiberous nature clearly. |
| Grey Deer Deer Creek, Oso | This piece my wife picked up. Its a nice consistent sub?translucent grey that is actually pleasing, and is just large enough for carving. Its lack of a rind is a little curious, but not uncommon. |
| StillGrey NF Stillaguamish River | This is Big Greens Grey cousin from the valley. Actually grennish/grey. Very curious patterns on this rock with the whites. |
| A Jade NF Stilaguamish River | Pretty standard opaque jade. (or a look-a-like) |
| Dendrites Grandy Creek | WTF? |
| Still 1 Stillaguamish River | Internally translucent jade with some rinding. Pictures of cuts added to top of slide-show Disappointing color and bad pictures...sorry. Still Jade. |
| NOD Grandy Creek | pretty jade knob with evident botryoidal tendencies. |
| Nice Jade Grandy Creek | motled white and green jade |
| Easter Egg Grandy Creek | The outside of this big piece is soft on the green areas, but I have a lot of faith that there is jade hiding in it. Very heavy. 99.99% Chance just a lump of serpentinite...very attracted to a magnet...still a neat garden rock. But this is a great example of a lens with "rodingite" selvages (self-edges)...compare with both the 'Ram'sEye Jade' (Page 1, Grandy Creek) and 'BlueTaffyHeartBreccia' (page 10, Deer Creek). |
| Blue Easter Egg Grandy Creek | Jade or a pretty chert |
| Big Opaque Grandy Creek | |
| Light and Globby Grandy Creek | I now class this as a botryoidal jade... |
| Little Opaque Grandy Creek | |
| Serpentine Knob Grandy Creek | Serpentinite or talc? On rodingite series... |
