| Jade Gallery Page 5 Misc Localities |
| Jade or what Deer Creek,Oso | Excellent white and blue opaques. Top notch. I want more! Cuts on other samples indicates this is quality jade TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
| Unassuming Jade Deer Creek,Oso | Very typical jade lens from within serpentinite. TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
| Nice Little Jade Deer Creek,Oso | Nicely patterned creams with translucency, and possibly chatoyant...would that then be tremolite crystal fiber inclusions? Seems that is the prevailing theory...that and actinolite fibers TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
| Unusual Jade Deer Creek,Oso | Its jade, but with a lot going on outside. Maybe Hydrogrossular garnet. It is very heavy for its size. Some of the green on the outside exhibits reflective surfacing and striated cleavage or splintery fracturing. There are jade spots (windows to the inside) on the end and else where, and I assume the brown is that same but weathered. The outside greens may be jade or garnet or actinolite or some kind of nicklferreous stone...I just don't know. I wouldn't sell this piece......This one is likely a chatoyant jade as well. TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
| Watermelon Rind Finney Creek | Compare with "watermelon" from same locality, just with a brown rind. TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
| Green Vein Pilchuck Creek | A very uncertain piece, but very promising. The green "vein" is outstanding stuff, but how much of the rock is so composed? The saw will tell... The rock as a whole might be classified as a rodingite. TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
| Left Behind Pilchuck/Bear creeks | This is one previous rockhounds left behind. It kind of looks like a conglomerate or breccias, but I think that's just an Illusion caused by uneven weathering of the host rock. On Page 10 there is a telling stone, see description there. 'Eureka' TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
| Two Rindy Pilchuck Creek | These two are no good. Probably don't even count as jade. Break these on site before taking home, they are leaverite. Junkite if you take it home! The oranger the rind the better chance it's jade. TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
| Another Rindy Pilchuck Creek | This is a little better. TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
| Bear Jade Bear Creek | I really like this color...and its consistent. This piece is likely too compromised with fractures though. Notice the foliated appearance. Thats why I say don't discount foliated stuff. It may be an illusion caused by the weathering of splintery fractures also. TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
| Pilchuck Green Nephrite | This is a typical good pilchuck green. Probably a little better when cut. The translucency is really good too. This is what you want to go home with for sure. TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
| Wedged Pilchuck Creek | The green here is very translucent for its dark color, but it remains to be seen if this piece has any usable material. Hopefully the rindy looking stuff is just that, and underneath is simply more jade (possibly of different color, etc) TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 a SMALL CUT was made on the tip revealing decent jade with a little orange staining. Pictures were added to album or follow the link above. |
| 23# Nephrite Boulder Pilchuck Creek | This one is mostly opaque. It exhibits the springy trait when hit with a hammer. I think a piece like this, with the reddish-brown patterns, would make a nice carving piece. Even at 5 dollars a pound this one is worth some money. TRIP REPORT 5-16-09 |
