I guess this is directed toward Bill. What is your understanding of why certain minerals adopt the botryoidal habit? That is, do we know what conditions must be present for the crystals to form in that manner?

Been out and about - but anyway, the GemHunter's newsletter on Jade deposits is now available (<http://GemHunter.webs.com>). Describes how to identify jade and what to look for.

I just can't stand that everyone went out this weekend and I stayed at home taking pictures of my not jade rocks so I'm off to Finney and Deer creek to hunt for the elussive white jade. I wish I had stuck with agates, (the gateway stone) at least I'd know what I had!

Hi All,
Does anybody here have any experience Jade hunting in Washington? Jadeite is available in Eagle Creek, Snohomish County. Nephrite, Serpentine with 6+ hardness, Grossular Garnet, and not sure if Jadeite is in Deer Creek, OSO, Washington. Skagit County has multiple Jadeite sites. Anybody here have experience with the sites, and pictures of different mineral rocks from them? Its pretty tough unless you know what you are looking for, so pictures of river rocks, their identifications, and finished product especially gemmy finished product will be awesome. Thanks, Aaron

I just watched the episode on Jade found on the coast of California and was wondering if Jade has ever been found on the coast of Cape Cod? I'm only asking this because on Several vacation trips to the outer Cape I would walk the beach and find green stones that resemble Jade. The small stones have that marbeling like Jade and are light in colour. NO, there not sea glass, there stones. Any ideas out there?
