To tell you the truth, I am not real familiar with Kansas
as far as Treasure Hunting goes, but I do know a few
interesting Tid-Bits of information that might interest
you and your kids.

First.....the western part of the state tends to turn into rolling
canyon like terrain......an ideal type of terrain to investigate for
Rock Hounding and Metal Detecting. Gold, Meteorites, Arrow
Heads and Bison Skeletal remains can be found in these areas.
I also hear that Opal is pretty prevelant in the state.

Also......you will notice that a large portion of the state is flat,
except the western region near the western Kansas / Colorado
state line.....it make sense to me that if any Gold or any other
precious metals or minerals were to be found, just like in the
mountains of Colorado, that these areas would be a good
place to start. I would do a bit of research first though to make
sure you don't get busted working someone else's claim
though......look for public sites in and around that region.

The U.S. National Geological Survey has a website that
has information regarding Gold and Mineral mining claims
up to 2004 which covers the entire Continental United States.
And you can use it to conduct your reseach for free.
