| Location #1: Hill Annex Mine State Park General description: Chose one of three tours. A tour of a massive open pit iron ore mine. A tour of the lake formed by the mining operations. A fossils hunt to recover marine fossils. All three tours take about 1 1/2 hours each. | How to get there: Entrance to the park is on the north edge of Calumet along State Highway 169, halfway between Grand Rapids and Hibbing.
