I have created a show of Missouri Minerals, Agates, and Jaspers. These are in my collection except for a couple of the Union Road Agate.

Hey I have some of those Keokuk geodes too. They look just like yours in you pic. Do they ever have any color to them? I sort of thought the ones I have wer rather bland. I have only cut a few, but was just curious. I haven't found any real good hollow one either. I guess I best finish cutting up them things to find out what is inside I guess. lol Anyway, very nice pics! sry you are still having problems posting pics. Finally got the RMM pics taken. Maybe I will work on the RMM page now.

There are a wide range of different minerals in the geodes. Some are duds like some T-Eggs are duds. You never know what you have untill you cut it open.

hunting locations near st. louis?

i live in st. louis MO and was wandering if anyone knows of any treasure hunting locations around st. louis? (like, with in a couple hour drive of it.)

"Is it legal to use a metal detector in Forest Park. I just purchased one and I live near St. Louis and I know it is illegal in National Parks. Just wondered what parks are okay for metal detecting.
About various metals, I know people are hoarding copper pennies before 1982 because of the copper content.

The real question is, Is Forest Park a National Park?

I don't think it is.

Every time I go there I usually see at least one "Coin Shooter"
with a metal detector looking for old coins in the grassy areas.

But if your not to sure about tackleing a large park like Forest
Park, there are numerous other parks scattered throughout
the St. Louis area that are localized community parks.

Pick a park, any park. :v)

Pick a creek bed.....any creek bed.

Arrow heads, gold nuggets, flynt rock,
quarts, and some gem material can
be found in these areas.... if you know
what your looking for and how to find it.

Just don't hunt on private property without
first getting the owner's permission to do so.

Don't bother with the caverns themselves
just park in their parking lot and take a hike
around the river's edge and the woods near
by with your trusty Metal Detector.

You might be surprised with what
you come up with in that area.
