Your best guess?

Hi Paul,
This agate formed in a hole lined with calcite crystals, most likely of acute rhombohedral ("poker chip") shape. The calcites then weathered away, leaving a negative impression of their shape. The cube shape formed at the intersection of 3 calcites. To demonstrate the shape of the calcite crystals, press a piece of clay into the angular holes and remove. If you'll do that, and post a photo, I'll post a photo of similarly shaped calcite crystals, to complete the puzzle. Good specimen!

Jeff found this at the ocean several years ago. Just finally got to cutting it. It is full of pyrite and is pretty cool. There are some nice cubes here and there as well.
Like what it is?

I took this to Bob, (rockcandyguy) for ID. As I recall he stated that it was quartz/quartzite rock with pyrite inclusions. Sort of a basic rock with pyrite. lol Hopefully I got it right.

I did take this over to Bob (rockcandyguy) to let him ID the rock for me during the Amber hunt. After scoping it he determined that it is a welded (silicified) Volcanic Tuff with agate intrusions post formation of the Tuff. If I remember correctly, Bob stated that the way the grains are aligned that it was close to eruption and was very hot during the formation. Hopefully Bob will check this out and make any corrections to this. Anyway, to me, it is a cool specimen.

These appear to be concretions but I don't know what the center material is. The lower left is a snail with the curved shell. The center of the top one is very typical of many Jeff has. What is your guess as to the nucleus of the concretion may be.

We did show Bob (
rockcandyguy) the rocks and he felt the the ones with very distinct centers looked to be Kelp tubes and the lower left is a snail cast. He also thought that there may be some corpolites as well. I hope I got it right. lol

This is another on of Jeff's recent purchase. It is a nice moss plume agate. Some one told him what they thought was, anyone have any guesses?
