Snow Gold, Alaska Nugget
Gold nugget from Snow Gulch, Kuskokwim. Note the dedritic nugget on rounded pebble. Gold is very malable and this suggets that the nugget grew in the creek after the pebble had been transported downstream.

Giant - Fullerton, Alaska
Dr. Paul Graff stands next to abandoned giant at Fullerton. These nozzels were used to hydraulically wash out gold from hill sides - gained a reputation for environmental damage - although I've never seen a scientific report to support these claims.

Snow Gulch, Alaska, Fire season
Photo from the Snow Gulch gold discovery in Alaska (1988). The sky was so darken from all of the smoke from nearby forest fires that one could look at the sun without difficulty.

Rehealed Greywacke, Donlin Creek, Alaska
In 1988, a small group of geologists (including me) found a major gold deposit in the Kuskokwim, Alaska. It now has at least 23.5 million ounces of gold identified and potentially 30 million ounces. This is a sample from the deposit.

Queen Trench, Snow Gulch, Alaska (1988)
Here I am driving my ATV up the hill at Snow Gulch Alaska. This was part of a major gold discovery by WestGold. More than 24 million ounces have now been drilled out at this property.
