I am a serious Entrepreneur seeking funds to start a
new type of Alternative Energy based Motor Company. Through the start-up phase I plan to capitalize on smaller markets in industry other than the Auto Industry. This strategy will allow such a company to grow in several different markets to gain the momentum and financial clout needed to address the Automotive Industry. Banks and lenders are not responsive to new business start-ups in the Alternative Energy Field because they leverage their earnings by investing in the petroleum industry. I have assembled a list of places that are worth searching with metal detectors in and around the St. Louis bi-state area. But many of these places are not the sort of places one would want to traverse alone. I am looking for some friends that are interested in covering large areas that have not been previously thought of by other treasure hunters. You can keep what you find. My purpose for doing this is because there is often safety in numbers when searching river banks, wooded areas, and other potentially dangerous areas that most people don't usually investigate alone. Also, if anyone knows of any good pawn shops or other sources that handle used metal detectors in the St. Louis, MO. area, I am interested and would like to check them out. You can forward any commets to my email at carlstone@netzero.net Thanks, and I'll be looking forward to hearing from those with questions or comments.

I have made a quick edit on the Mission Statement for discussion. Comments from private mine owners and land owners are needed, especially as regards the code of conduct. What do you expect from the model rockhound? How can clubs increase your comfort level regarding public access?
And anyone with a case history, project or example to discuss please start a thread. MISSION STATEMENT: "To determine what actions we can take to retain access to private lands. To discuss and showcase problems and solutions as examples for other problem areas. Roadmap Objectives are coalescing along several lines: To draft code of conduct building upon the rockhounders code of ethics that incorporates the concerns of all constituencies. To seek official endorsement of this statement by the regulatory authorities. To determine private land mineral rights owners and management entity concerns for each site in question and offer specific constructive solutions. Club or Council sponsorship of sites, private joint ventures and small stream restoration projects are all possibilities. To establish increased credibility for clubs and club members."

I loved Bob Jackson's Spruce Ridge crystals so much I bought Amethysts for my daughters. I've never paid for a specimen before, so Bob you can feel privileged to be the first. Albeit, they were gifts for my girls so I can still say I've never purchased a mineral specimen for myself. I just wanted to say Bob is every bit as friendly and helpful in person as he is on the Wiki:) I'm not a huge clear quartz fan but I love Amethysts, and the Amethysts are gorgeous. Thank you Bob!
Sincerely, Aaron

i have been appointed by the Washington State Mineral Council to act as their representative to determine what actions the Council can take to retain access to private lands in Washington.
Specifically this includes three current problem areas: Lucas Creek, Adna and Studebaker Creek. In our efforts we should all strive to make this an example for other problem areas. Objectives are coalescing along several lines: To draft code of conduct building upon the rockhounders code of ethics that incorporates the concerns of all constituencies. To seek official endorsment of this statement by the regulatory authorities. To determine private land mineral rights owners and managment entity concerns for each site in question and offer specific constructive solutions. Club or Council sponsership of sites, private joint ventures and small stream restoration projects are all possibilites. To establish increased credibility for clubs and club members. We need very good PR to help reverse the increasing pace of closures and regulatory restrictions. This is an exceptional challenge in the face of the greed exhibited by the plunderers who reside almost exclusively outside of our community. Please contrbute your suggestions to this thread. There are a lot of potential tasks that will contribute to these objectives. I will put the objectives and tasks together as the ideas converge. Regardless, contacting Weyerhauser is on the critical path. To respect their privacy, please send me suggested contact indivduals by private message. And if anyone knows the underlying mineral rights ownership for these tree farms, please post that info. Me, I need some sleep...

Yeah, that's right....Jade.
I thought I'd start a jade rendezvous for Washington...just a show and tell event for serious WA jade hunters to show everyone else what they have and trade stories. Maybe hold one this spring (late). Suggestions, sites and dates appreciated. It could just start out as a wiki rendezvous but I'll personally email the WA folks not on the wiki to join as well...and whereever else I can put out the word. I know Aaron knows some folks and I bet Redrummd would like to come as well...maybe he could host in fact!? He has a property that folks can camp on and a shop on the primises....I'll email him. All thoughts welcome. ~Zeke

Some of jus have discussed having a claim named in the memorial of Tom. We do have a couple I have been helping ascertain one and it looks like they might proceed in claiming the area that Tom was interested in getting directly NE of my t-egg claim. They have told me they will name in a manner that can be indentifed somehow with Tom. Hopefully w will be able to use it and have a place to gather and reminense about Tom and our aquantaces with him and his.

Lets think through the South Dakota Gemboree for The Treasure Hunters Wiki . Let's settle on a date. . How about a date in June or over Labor Day. The CRAWFORD ROCK SWAP is over the Labor Day Weekend, September 4,5,6, & 7th, 2009 and is the Fairburn Agate get together. Field trips are planned. Here is a link for the Crawford Rock Swap and Custer State Park.
http://www.lakotafairburn.com/shows.htm http://www.sdgfp.info/Parks/Regions/Custer/custersp.htm At the State Park there are RV Hooks Ups, Camping, Cabins, Lodges (hotels) fishing, herds of wild life, and it is in the center of all the great Rockhounding. There are great National Parks within a short drive: Badlands National Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewell Cave National Monument, Mount Rushmore, and there is two great museums: SD School of Mines, and Black Hills Institute. Specimens to collect in the area include Tee Pee Canyons Agate, Tourmaline, Beryl, Rose Quartz and numerous other minerals. At Two Hearts there is Fairburn Agate, Moss Agate, Barite Crystal Clusters, Bubble Gum Agate, Prairie Agate, Great Marine Fossils and colored Jaspers. Bill

Well if your interested in metal detecting and don't know much about it you may want to go along with someone that does. There is a local prospecting group that also has members that use metal detectors on a regular basis. If your in the Portland Oregon areas check out http://www.nwmpc.com/ They have lots of outings and you can learn a lot.
