Well, I haven't seen anything in this wiki that tells you were in Massachusetts you can find treasure. But I do see a lot of clubs. I suppose thats a start.

When I was a kid my dad used to go out looking for treasure in Western, Ma. He would go to the Otis Reservoir, in Otis Ma. and look for Red Garnets that you can find easily in the Slate on the side of the road. The Red Garnet a semi precious stone would be found in the crumbly slate. These Red Stones were very small but could be harvested. My Dad also went to Herkimer, N.Y. for the Diamonds. As far as any other sites in Massachusetts, I'm sure that there are some but I don't know where?

I live close to R.I. now, and I've heard that there was a mine in R.I. that is closed now and located in the woods. This mine is filled with water now but I think in it's hay day they had gold there? Not sure, but I think it would be a good bet to ask someone in a rock club about this.

Hope that I've helped someone.

Also, I would love to see Kirsten Gum come to New England with a show on Gems!!

You may have heard about Goshenite. Goshenite was first discovered and identified in goshen, Mass. hence it's name. Goshenite is actually clear quartz that is said to have a higher clearity than a diamond. Goshenite was used a simulate diamonds at one point, and probably is still. I think I read somewhere that a couple of pockets of this quarts had been discovered up that way, but not a lot. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

I live and grew up near Fitchburg, Ma and know where the Quarry is, I will have to check this site out! May I ask what site you found this info on, as I have been trying to find more info for this area. I heard there use to be a silver mine in Sterling Ma near a lake.

yes, there most certainly is an old silver mine in sterling...near lake waushacum. my father took me there when i was younger and there is actually still a tunnel going into the ground. if you're not familiar with the area then it is NOT easy to find. there is just a trail on the side of newell hill rd with old granite posts on either side of it. walk down the trail a few hundred yards and there is a rock outcropping on the right hand side (it sort of looks out of place) and if you walk around to the backside of it you will see the tailings piles from the mine and the actual shaft itself. i cant seem to find any info on the mine but im sure either the town library or historical society would know something. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. A number of sites are listed on the National Directory. Have you been to any of the sites. Locations are listed but no rating are given.

Oh my gosh. Without a doubt, the greatest treasure in mass is when the New York Yankees come to town and play the triple A boston red sox. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
