There is a great group that I found when I was starting out. I am still a member and the club is a good size and the people are very friendly. Their website is: www.mwas.org. The name of the group is Mid-western Artifact Society. I can't talk enough about the club. Because of them I was able to truely enjoy going out metal detecting. I keep hoping my husband will come with me, but no such luck. There are several couples who are members, so I can't see how you wouldn't fit in. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Hey Don, I'm Don too. Do you know of any clubs in Eastern South Dakota? It gets lonely up here in Aberdeen No rockhounds. No detectorists. People give you strange looks around here if they see you walking a field with a detector, or picking up a rock to stuff in your pocket.

Don, I don't know of any clubs in South Dakota but there is a treasure hunters message board that gets posted to concerning South Dakota. Maybe you can find a detecting buddy there. Here is the link http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php?board=182.0 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Hey dathvick, thanks for the link. I'll give them a hit tomorrow. As soon as the snow melts and ground thaws around here, there's an old abandoned farm half mile west of me, and a run down one room school a mile to the east that I plan to check out.
Good detecting, and thanks again.
