"can't wait to see. i take it it is from Washington? Any pics of the auction? you'll notice I'm here and not out today :-( Grandy will just have to wait...probably a spur of the moment thing. I'm just going to take pictures today.
~Zeke"
I should have taken pics of the piece today while it is sunny. It is a rather large piece and I really don't want to bring it into the house to photo. I'll try in the next couple of days. You know, I didn't take any pics of the auction and sale but we did sell I would say at least 90% plus of the material. And we are talking about about tons of rocks. It was amazing what we sold.

Yeah I saw that you were here today. At least we got to talk to each other instead of posting to ourselves every once in a while. lol Grandy will be there for you next time.

Speaking of Jade, Sharon and Tim (rockhound5555) brought some nice WY Jade plus some other geodes and goodies up the other day to cut on the 24" saw. I still have the jade here so I can take some pics of that too. Geez, I hope that is ok with Sharon and Tim... ;-)

Hey Zeke, I posted some pictures of the Jade i purchased at rock club rock sale and auction. There are several pictures of Tim and Sharon's (rockhound5555) Wyoming jade they brought up for the rock cutting party we had last week. I still have to finish slabbing the pieces. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the pictures.

Let me know what you think of the jade. I don't have any experience with the stuff. It this a good piece?

Ok here then :-) very nice. It is good as long as there aren't too many fractures through it. Unless it is a pure toned brilliant jade, value is in the eye of the buyer with jade. I think that a great piece to work with. What are your plans for it? do you know its origin?

Thanks, we think it is from BC. Though no one seems to know for sure. There is a few small non magnetic black spots in it but it is hard to tell from the photos.. As to what I am going to do with it, it would be a nice heavy boat anchor... NOT! lol I don't know for sure. I will take a few cuts and see what it looks like. I couldn't tell you if it is like a gemmy pieces or may have areas in it that may be. You have any suggestions?

Paul

I was trying to post this response on the the thread and was wondering why it wouldn't go though. You deleted it. lol

It does, however the spotting score is mounted on the tripod right now and it is hunting season. I am just to lazy to go get into the truck and get it. my bad. I know. lol I'll try to get some but I think I will wait until I slab the rest of the piece for them. There maybe some more intense colors waiting to be exposed.

Well I'm into the idea of carving jade, but i think that looks like great cabbing material. I think it looks like BC jade. Do you find this valuable?

I have thought about carving as well. But there should be a pile of good cabs there for sure. It is a nice healthy piece, clean and not fractured much at all.

"Anyone else a little too wet? Ruined my chance of an outing tomorrow...garage and basement living area flooded. i toyed with the idea of going out, but really....these showers are a little too intense. A break on monday...I'll hit Grandy then. i'm at least lucky i don't have a job to keep me from hounding during the week. none the less, awful quite on the wiki...that must mean some of you were crazy enough to brave the weather. If you survive, tell us how it went :-)

~Zeke"
My husband and I went camping on the Oregon coast during the storm in our super huge and awesome tent and collected Augite from Cedar Butte and Pyrite from Otter Crest. :)

It was intensely soggy and rewarding.

I knew it was supposed to be rainy but since I don't watch TV or read the news really, I had no clue it was suppose to be THAT stormy! I'm glad I brought towels, an air mattress, tarps and a heater. We were juussstttt fine. :)

We're pretty good at playing in the outdoors so I thought it was a blast.

Hi Paul,

Tim said you did well ! Nice piece of jade. We have found that the pink doesn't take real good pic's unless you have a really high pixel count. The sun help wash it out also. For some reason it is the hardest to take a nice pic of. There you go Paul a new challenge for you !!! LOL
Just let us know when your ready and we will send some pic's and go from there. Kinda funny here i am saying it is hard to tell how nice they are from a pic and then I offer you one.
Well off to cook dinner.

I am glad the piece appears to be a good one. I am no judge of Jade but am learning on here for sure. I'll work on some different pic options to see if I could capture the true color of the pink. I'll bet I'll have that jade next time you are up for another rock cutting party. lol I'll try to get back to cutting those other pieces up for you. I do need to make some pours to capture your jade to cut. :-)
