Spots in NJ?

Hey, I'm new to treasure hunting and want to try to do it as a hobby occaisionally. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any areas for any kind of fossil, rock etc. In northern New Jersey or anything within about an hour distance. (Mid-South NJ, East/NE PA, or South NY). If so, I extremely thank you if you'd be able to leave a url for the place, phone number, address etc. any of those is fine. And maybe what can be found there and any other important information. THANKS A LOT :) Do you find this valuable?

New York and one in PA... Not sure how close they are for you but This is the site I use to find place all across the US to dig for treasure...

or you can get a series of books by region yours would be called Northeast treasure hunters gem & mineral guide (Wheree and how to dig, pan and mine your own gems and minerals by Kathy J. rygle and Stephen F. Pedersen...

my suggestion is to look into joining a local mineral club - there are several in northern and central jersey as well as some in eastern pa. - there is a club in paterson, nj that meets the 2nd thursday of the month at the museum, there is a club at sterling hill museum in franklin, nj, there is a club that meets at the morristown museum - i dont know when those 2 meet. there is a club in allentown, pa that meets the 3rd monday of the month, a club in stroudsburg, pa that meets the first monday of the month at hughs library on rt 611. if you are interested in any of these please let me know and i will see what else i can find out for you - i think that is a good start Do you find this valuable?

I am from NJ too - I heard about the Sterling mine and was gonna check that out soon. I know in Raritan there is a place to dig the river for shark teeth - a quick internet search should provide more info on that - If I find that websire again, I will post it. POCONOROSE, thanks for the info about the morristown museum - I will be checking THAT out!!!! Marvin - gonna check out that page AND those books.
