Sep 7 2008, 12:36 PM EDT We will also be in Pigeon Forge, TN this fall. Did you get any responses for where to hunt for gems, etc. around there? My husband also does metal detecting, but we're not familiar with any allowed places there. I would appreciate any help you can give. Hope you had fun when you were there. Thanks. Do you find this valuable? |

Thanks."Cross the scenic road through the Smokey Mountain National Park over Klingman's Dome to Cherokee North Carolina and you will be in Rockhound Paradise. Check out the North Carolina National Directory for an extensive list of Rudy, Sapphire, Emerald, Garnet mines, Some are fee mines - other are primitive sites. Two areas of intense collecting is around Franklin NC and around Spruce Pines NC. The mines in Galinburg are salted tourist stops. You will want to take the short drive over the Smokey Mountains or you will a real treat. If you are into white water rafting there are great river runs including the river where the Olympic kayaking was held 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
