I have family in New Mexico and am planning a vacation to NM in May. I would like to know of any sites to find gems or minerals in this state.

I wish I could help you. Have never been to NM. However there are geodes/thundereggs that could be found. I want to say near Deming. I think Cash and Treasures did an episode on Geodes and info may be on the C and T websites. I want to say they hunted with the Geode kid. I believe there is a Rock Hound State Park where Geodes and maybe other things may be found. And I read somewhere the Black Hills Valley has some material as well. I just don't know what is found there. You might want to consider buying a book that have dig sites in NM. I think there is a Gem Trails of New Mexico in the Gem Trails series of books. Sorry I couldn't help more. I hope you cna find some info and get a chance to go out and hunt for some treasures. Paul

So much that I hardly know where to start. I guess I'll just jump in feet first and see where I get to. I'm leaving Beaver Dam, Ky on the 24th of May and plan on maybe stopping in Arkansas for a day or two if there's somewhere I can dig there. I found a link to the Coleman Crystal Mine and also the Crater of Diamonds State Park. If anyone has been there, I would be interested to know what can be found. I've never been treasure hunting before, so any helpful hints would be much appreciated. Do you find this valuable? |

Hey keep checking the threads and links here and you will find alot of info on arkansas and other places. And remember for every bad trip someone had another had a good one. It depends on your outlook and what your after. If your in it to learn and have fun and maybe find a treasure or two the adventure is all the more fun
