Gold Paning in North Eastern Oregon in the Blue Mountains

I hear there is a lot of gold up in the Blue Mountains and I would love to see Cash and Treasures locate some. I have talked to people that hunt up in that areas and they have found spots in little creeks that are rich with gold. They would tell where though? 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

I've found traces of gold in just about every stream that flows off the southern end of the Elkhorns, everywhere between Sumpter and Baker. You can't go wrong up there if you can locate a spot that isn't claimed. Ten Cent Creek, which flows into Granite Creek, is a great spot. If you drive up to Greenhorn you'll see there are machines all along Clear Creek, and most of that is claimed. Several groups have claims in the Blues, especially along the upper Burnt River, so you can go that route and meet some great people. If I was advising Kirsten, I'd send her to Sumpter to explore the big old dredge at the state park, then down to the Cracker Creek Mining Camp on the old road to Bourne. Their website is http://www.sumpteroregongoldmining.com/about.html. The Lost Dutchman group has a site along I-84 near Weatherby. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

Yeah I want to hook up with someone that knows what they are doing this summer and try my luck. There is a place in Portland that sells prospection supplies so after I know what the heck I am doing I will invest in a high banker and sluice box. I can't wait. Thanks for the tips. I will make a note of those spots and look at them on Google Earth. 3  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?
