It's Morel season!
Mar 29 2008, 8:49 PM EDT Well it is Morel season and if you check along river beds along the cottonwood trees, poplars, ash, and alder you may find some growing. Suavie Island near Portland is a good spot. Also Oxbow park out in Gresham on the Sandy River. I also hear that there is another Truffle season coming that lasts until June in Oregon! May 19 2008, 2:44 PM EDT I love morels! Much to tasty to sell in my opinion. And let me tell you, Dave makes an awesome venison/elk strogenoff!! We've been waiting for the snow to melt up by my dad's cabin/Ekler Mt. The hunting should be pretty good once we can get up there, especially after the nasty fires in recent years. Happy Hunting! May 19 2008, 5:07 PM EDT Rockpuppy! Whooo Hooo you posted. So hey when is the snow going to be off? The deer/elk stuff sounds great. I can bring a few morels right now. How is that? They hunt the recently burnt areas as well. Or any distrubed area, logging activites or even in campgrounds. It is funny that different regions look for different trees to hunt around. Ours as the willows, find the willows in the burned areas and generally you will find the mushrooms. I think Jeff is going to cook ours tonight. Can hardly wait! Then I am going to head to Dave and Livy's when the snow melts and they get the deer and ellk out! Yeah! Paul Do you find this valuable? |
