We should have a kick working this claim. We had the money and knew the people we purchased the rights to their claim they held since 1983. Never been this serious about getting so involved and wanted a place we could share with everyone, get away, and just relax with friends. We are shooting for late September to get our equipment over there and do some minor work to the access road and clean up the area a little first off. Then we will do some serious digging to expose new material. Shouldn't be too big of a hassle depending how the equipment holds up. Do you find this valuable?

Hey Don
Since Paul hasn't asked yet I will. How did you put together your tire tumbler. It looks very interesting.

Tom
Surprised Paul didn't pass on the info. Must be hoarding it for himself!! How did I put it together. Lots of experimenting. I had an old tumbler that I was able to add two 1" shafts mounted using six pillar block bearingsdd--next one I make will only need four bearings. The shafts were mounted about 12" apart from each other. Lining them up was a matter of macthing the tire to the shafts. In order for the tire to ride correctly, it is necessary to angle the shafts to match the wear of the tire and keep it riding in the middle of the unit. I used a 1/2 horse motor with 1 1/2" pulley driving a 14" pulley to one shaft, 4" pulleys between shafts. The only other thing I added was dolley wheels mounted on the bottom of the tires. Originally they were at top to keep tire from tipping over. Didn't need them so I move them to the bottom. That's about it. Takes about 2 five gallons of rock--try to keep them about the same size or thebig eat the little ones. Only use about 4 pounds 60-90 grit, couple three large handfuls of sand-I use beach sand, enough water so you can see it when the running. I use an excercise ball to seal the center and only leave it run for 4-5 days. Cleaning in out is easy using a small bucket inserting it inside while tire is turning and dumping it into another one. I finish polishing in my vibrator. I have a 75 pound one for that. Having fun. PS: Putting the hydraulics back on truck tomorrow. Catch you

No Paul didn't share but that is ok. I have a freind in the weld shop at work who can build the frame for me and I have a motor. There is an ace hardware three blocks from me so I should have no trouble getting the rest. So between this set up and the ten pound vibrator plans I got from Dave I should be able to get some good polishing done. Good luck with the hydrolics.

Hey Tom
No problem. I got my pulleys from a local Wilco implement store and was able to choose the pulleys I needed. Had a 12" for the drive axle, but it turned the wheel to fast. The 14" was just right. I would like to make a smaller version one of these days and see how that works, maybe one that will take about 5 gallons at a time. Love playing with machinery.

The right shoulder is doing real well. The second operation seem's to be holding up fine. The left shoulder is a worthless rag. Went to the surgeon today and he pulled me off work for good till it is fixed. I go for an MRI ON THE 21ST of MAY then back to him on the twelth of june. The nurse representative for the Insurance company was at my appointment today and tried to get him to send me back to work but he told her no way. He said he didn't want the right shoulder to go backwards from over work and he didn't know how severe the damage was to the left yet so he didn't want me to harm it more. She tried toget him to go for "light duty" again and he said her "light duty" tore out the left shoulder so why would he let her do it again. He also told her the MRI was not to see "IF" I needed surgery but to see "WHAT" type of surgery I needed. Whether he would do it orthoscopically or lay it open like the last one but either way he thinks surgery is the only option for it. She also tried to get him to start physical therapy on the left shoulder and he asked her what was wrong with her hearing. He said I told you no activity until I get the MRI results and that includes physical therapy. He was not happy she was there and let her know it. So now I am back on disability till this gets taken care of which means another summer in a sling recovering from slice and dice.
Other than that the shoulder is fine, lol.

Man, bummer! At least the Dr was on your side and is saying do not screw it up any worse than it already is. That may mean diggin may be on hold too. I can relate as I have had to many surgeries and years and years of physical therapy and you have seen where I am. Just take care and take it easy! Try to keep it to the scope stage. Man my first surgery was suppose to be a scope. After he got started, you know removing bone fragments and cleaning things up, reattaching torn stuff and ended up with a 6" cut to repair tendons and ligaments. Man take it easy dude!! Heck Paul
I always take it easy. Just like at saddle mtn remember? No over working here. I will put strenouse things like mowing and weeding and gutter cleaning on hold but easy things like thunder egg digging and petrified wood mining I just can't see stopping. After all they are so gentle on the joints and so relaxing as to be whole body therapy don't you think.
