It depends on what you mean by "valuable treasure", I guess. There are many places in California where you can find rocks and minerals and gems that have value as specimens or can be used to create jewelery. My recommendation on how to learn where to find these is to join a group - or at least join in with a group on a field trip. To find a rock/mineral/gem/lapidary group in California near where you live, you can go online to www.cfmsinc.org which is the California Federation of Mineralogical Societies. They list all the clubs. There are also a whole bunch of online groups which list field trips. One of the oldest and largest is the Yahoo Group LA-ROCKS. Usually, there are at least 2 field trips a month posted. The weekend of April 26th, there are trips to Jalama Beach for Travertine Onyx/whalebone/fossils and another trip up in the mountains near Lone Pine. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

California is loaded with places to find valuable treasures. The cash and treasures show highlighted several of them including tourmaline near san diego, jade near big sur (monterey area), fire agate at opal hill between palm springs and nearer to colorado river off rt 10, and benitoite in san benito county (benitoite is probably the most valuable). Listed below is a website to help you find most of the treasures in your area.

I took my dad gold panning in Jamestown, California, two years ago. Jamestown is in the Mother Lode country, east of San Francisco, and there are several places that offer panning and sluicing opportunities. I found my place through an Internet search using the keywords "California gold panning". 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
