I used to live there. I would go out on a boat from the dock near the boathouse restaurant downtown. There are several different companies that can take you if you do not own a boat. Talk to the people at the company about the little private beaches that you reach if you boat out from the bay. I found many wonderful shells out there. Full shells. They were really pretty. The areas are easier to get to by jetski but you have to know where you are going. Hope that helps. I saw one of my friends collect them daily-he owned a jetski company- and he would make lamps, glass tables, and whatever you could think of out of these shells. 2  out of 3 found this valuable. If you are looking for fossils and good shark teeth, try sifting the gravel in the Peace River, Arcadia FL Not to far away from you.
