I have a suggestion to everyone on the site, and that would be if you know of an area that is handicapped excisable that includes wheel chair and motoscotter let us know. There are a few of us that have a hard time getting around as is without having to walk a mile or two to get to a site. It would also open up the opportunity for others who thought they could not share in our hobby due to their handicap.
I agree with all the suggestions xspecialy about the albums
Paul, Bill and Tom out of everyone you three are on here the most. You watch all the threads (don't know how you do it I can barelly keep up with the 14 that I recieve e-mails on now) and welcome everyone that makes a post. You are all filled with an extrodinary amount of knowledge ( not saying others aren't) that has helped more then a few of us out in way or another. Keep it up and Thank You.
Thank you to the C&T crew for the site and the show
Dave

"I read the obituary this morning, I was not in it so I knew it was going to be a good day. The Doc said they wil be mining for a kidney stone. They are going to BLAST it. I was hoping they would leave it whole so I could add it to my collection. It's not an agate. Will be posting PICS."
At last, something that isn't an agate. Or do we really know. I mean Bill and all the years of rockhounding experience could produce, just by shear chance, the first kidney agate! Oh no... Now Tom will want one, then Andy and so on and so forth. lol

Funny you read the obit's, the first thing Val does when she gets home is read the obit's looking to see if I AM IN THERE!!! ;-o

Hope all goes well at the Doc. Been there done that, don't ever want to do that again! Paul

Hi Brenda. You up off the floor yet??? ;-) hehe I just keep looking at the picture and I see agate. Ok another way to tell if it is amber is put some rubbing alcohol or better yet acetone on it. It will actually dissolve a bit and get sticky. Agate won't, it may clean the agate, but it won't dissolve. The knife test results are interesting. However, if it were Amber, the scratch would be really obivous. And an amber that size may only weight a couple of ounces. Does it feel heavier or lighter then other rocks the same size? But I still see agate. Paul

"Alright You AGATE "Challenged" People
Don't let your jealousy over our abundant hunting grounds get the best of you..lol. I know we post a lot of agate pics and have several very friendly discussions on them but there are so very any types and locations across this great nation it is hard not to become addicted to them. I also hunt for many other types of treasures in my area. Such as Jasper and quartz crystals and fossils and geodes, and more. I realize that another started the agate bashing but Paul took full advantage to get his licks in because he has NO agates where he lives. Sticks and stones can break me bones but mean agate words can't hurt me ,ha, ha, ha,,,lol
Tom
"
Whatever....geeezz..... agates, gagites. geez man just cause I am challenged you do't gots to rub it in.... There just aint no agates around here. There were but they all got wash down down stream!!!

LOL Still laughing at the AGATE "challenged" People thingy!! I am and I am proud to be one! hehe Paul

ps Trust me dude, if'n I was to throw something at you, it most certainly not be an agate. I only have a few and would hate to loose one. But It might be a choice piece of Leaverite maybe even with your name on it! ;-o nearly on the floor grabbing my sides now! I bet I got more Leaverite than you do!!! LMAO!!

Here comes the Gold. Sites in Treasurefevers back yard. Tallapoosa County

1. Hog Mountian Gold Mine sec 10 T 24N R 22E largest occurence of gold in the mining district of Alabama - Fine grained gold
2. Tallspoosa Mine SW1/4 SW1/4 sec 26 T24N R22E Large flakes of gold in the host rock

Randolf County
1. Pinetucky Gold Mine sec 12 T18S R10 most well known specimens gold ever found in Alabama
2. Crooked Creek near Goldberg Mine Sec 10 T20S R10E fairly large nuggets

You have the Wal-Mart Section maps with Townships and Range. Use the Sec, T ,and R to pin point the locations. There are many mines within 35 miles of you home
Do not think gold prospecting is easy. It takes a lot of work to find a little gold. If it was laying around in big piles everyone would be out there mining. Do not go into abandoned mine shafts these are death traps. It is best to go with an experienced prospector who knows the area and how to pan for gold. Alabama at one time produced a great deal of gold. These old mines still have gold. Be careful. This is a bad time of the year to mine in Alabama. It is hot humid, the brush is thick, the ticks are out and so are the snakes. Best time is when the weather cools. Fall winter and spring is the best seasons to prospect your area. Especially winter.
I am not a gold prospector (not patience enough) so these locations are not ones I have worked but are in the Geological Survey of Alabama. There are better things to look for in my humble opinion than gold. I have never had gold fever (Agate yes) but not gold. Check it out be careful- go with someone and I don't promise that it will be easy.
Bill

WOW!!! If he has a stone big enough to facet I will facet it!!! If that is the case No Humor! That poor man is lucky to be upright! Don't make him laugh. But that would be a challange to facet for sure Of course it has to be a clear stone, no inclusions and must finish cut to at least 23.389475 cts. Yikes the Smithsonian may want that stone! But all just for you Tom! lol Paul

If Bill has a stone big enough to facet I would be amazed that he could sit and type all that he has today. Must be really good pain pills,,,lol. Imagine the news articles about the first faceted kidney stone in history, you would be right up there with Jerry Call,,,lol

I have known a few people who had them. They went through some real pain. I have not had the experience of one myself and hope to not ever have it. My father in law had seven to pass one time and I think if it would have been me I would have just told them to cut out the darn kidney. I am a real pansy when it comes to pain. Unless of course I get rocks out of the ordeal so maybe since they were kidney STONES I would have gone thought it.
