The site of the find does not have to be new. The find however does have to be a new find. No pulling out uncle henry's twenty pounder from 1942, or the twelve pounder you found at boyscout camp ten years ago. All entered agates must have been found between mya 7th of 2008 to june 6th of 2008 finale posting date june 7th of 2008. In the size catagory include weight, length, height, and thickness. All genuine agates are invited to jump in no region restrictions. Yes I did see the paint rock agate post it is a very good looking stone, wish we had some of those up here in washington. Good Hunting Tom |

"Does this have to be a new site or can the agate be found in a known site?Gee Bill..........good question. Have never seen a motherlode of agate and or deposits. I would have to confess 99% of my agate finds are pure luck and happen-chance discovery. Don't have any known agate mines/pockets/pit/deposits/etc.....to my limited knowledge in our neck of the woods. Whats your thoughts??? Sent your package off to you in todays mail by the way> :) Andy |

Agate has the power to harmonize yin and yang, the positive and negative forces that hold the universe in place. A soothing and calming stone, Agate works slowly but brings great strength. Its multiple layers can bring hidden layers to light.Spiritually, Agate raises consciousness and links into collective consciousness and awareness of the oneness of life. It encourages quiet contemplation and assimilation of life experiences, leading to spiritual growth and inner stability. Agate stabilizes the aura, eliminating and transforming negative energies. Its cleansing effect is powerful at the physical and emotional levels. Placed on the heart, it heals the emotional dis-ease that prevents acceptance of love. Placed on the abdomen or taken as an elixir, Agate stimulates the digestive process and relieves gastritis. It heals the eyes, stomach, and uterus; it cleanses the lymphatic system and the pancreas; it strengthens blood vessels and heals skin disorders. |

"Very Nice agate pendant Bill. I will send out the carnelian this weekend to you.Yes that banded one was different. Not that impressed with my photo's though.I was hoping for a little better clarity. Joined our local Lakeside Gem and Mineral Club last night attending for only the 2nd time in 45 yrs.The place was packed when I got there approx 40 people, so I quietly grabbed a folded chair, open it and took a seat......................................................Momentarily. My butt no sooner hit the seat when the chair collasped and I went DOWN........where is the camera when you need it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well needless to say I created a little excitement in the room for a moment. HE HE.Seems someone forgot to remove the group of five folded chairs from their inventory. When new business rolled around on the agenda someone immiediatly made a motion for the club to purchase 20 new chairs which they seconded. So I have already made an impact on the club causing change. I figured if I had that kind of impact I better join the club :) >>>>>> which I did |

Well AndyWay to make an impact!! I hope you have a great time in that group. Perhaps with your enthusiasm for fossils and agates and wood you will meet like minded people and we can add to our outing group. You didn't say if you were going to make it to sagebrush's on the 7th of june. Keep us posted as to the local club going's on and if they take non club members on field trips. Take Care Tom |

"Andy, it sounds like you made a real hit (he he) at the meeting. Those folks should consider themselves lucky to have you. Did you mention our group?Yeee Ha.........even made myself laugh at all the unneccessary attention. The room was a beehive of committee reports, drawings, field trip info etc.........so i did not get a chance to mention the active C&T wiki. They are planning on a Carnelian agate trip to Bickleton area of state. Saw a # of them last night polished. They weren't very translucent though. Bill how big of an agate can be cut with a 6" saw? Bickleton isn't very far from my yougest daughter. She is in goldendale. I have seen alot of carnelian but like you say most are not real translucent. I find the carnelians that are found around alot of yellow agates are more translucent. Like the carnelians in Adna where the is petrified wood but few yellow agates are sort of cloudy yet the ones I find down below chehalis are alot clearer wher I also find alot of yellow and white agates.Tom |

"Very nice AndyYES INDEED THE LOG IS APPROX THREE AND A HALF FT. Oops.and I would guess about 16-22 "inches in diamenter.Sitting in an area that looked like it was set aside instead of sent to the crusher.Going to go back there and see if any em[ployment openings exist. I want the job of removing that log!Maybe they might give it away( I doubt it)Maybe they would donate it to the muesum(possible)Maybe they would sell it(it's logical)Maybe they would accept a bribe...............Ha..................the story continues. The tangerine agate looks clear and solid, no visable sign of crystalization.I do not really detect any banding.Doesn't feel quite as heavy as the titanic. |
