Jun 23 2008, 10:57 PM EDT "Lucky man. What are chukars?"Chukars are an upland bird. Bigger than a quail and smaller than a pheasant. Here is a link to wikipedia that has a good description of the bird. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chukar btw, very nice trip pics! Looks like the rock hunt was a total success! :-) Paul 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Unexpected Discovery - Petrified Wood
Jun 23 2008, 11:10 PM EDT Thanks, I had a good time. Me and the dogs spent every day on a beach. I had to haul the rocks up a 100' bluff. Took me three trips :) The last trip up my backpack was so heavy I could barely stand upright. I brought home a lot more than what I posted, but you know; when I am sorting/washing them at home a lot of them look like "What were you thinking bring that thing home". LOL Pam Do you find this valuable? |

A Leaverite Collector. The sign of a true rockhound. :-) LOL (This information can be found in the always improving rockhounding for dummies...) lol You need to get doggie packs and make them dogs earn their keep hauling them rocks for you.. We have 3 Labs. They are a kick, but you know what, they don't have doggie packs either. hmmm..lol Paul Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Unexpected Discovery - Petrified Wood
Jun 24 2008, 5:55 PM EDT That lab runs up and down the dunes alot. I SHOULD get him a backpack, make him earn his kibble. My other dog, a fat Australian Shepard wouldn't run to the water dish. I have kind of found a new way to hunt Petoskey's. Throw the stick into the lake for the lab, let him get it and bring it to me on the dry stones. Let him shake, so I can see what the stones will look like when polished. repeat. Sorry I got off-thread; I must have ADD; oh look! there's a rock. . Do you find this valuable? |

Some how some enviro-terrorist will try to make it against the law. I mean geez you are just out there playing with the dog, you can't help it if he shakes the water off and it lands on the rocks which in turn you find treasures. What a great way to play with the dog and find some good stones! Paul Hey what kind of rock was it you found?? Do you find this valuable? |
