Franklin, N.C. Gem Mining
Jun 28 2008, 10:24 AM EDT
It was suggested on the C&T board that I add this here, so I am doing so-- hope nobody minds. :-)

http://pakasdollmaker.com/gemmining.html

I have put together a bit of a "fan page" (completely non-profit; I am not being paid for anything I am posting and I make no money from my site at all) for the mines in Franklin, North Carolina. Basically, a little collection of general information, mine reviews, and other suggestions for a trip to the area, plus some photos. As my disclaimer on the page says, some things are just my own opinions and I could be wrong on some things, so of course keep that in mind. Just wanted to create a reference to help those who are looking for information and to help encourage folks to visit.

That is very cool. I don't have time right now to read it all and click the links, but very nice job and site. Thanks, Paul 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Here is the link- http://pakasdollmaker.com/gemmining.html

I'm not sure how to create an active link on this board I'm afraid, so it will probably have to be copied and pasted.

Would you like the material and the link posted as a page for Franklin on the WIKI under North Carolina in the National Directory. As a WIKI , the site is an ongoing work. With you permission, I will set up a page that you can copy ang paste to.

Thanks Rebecca,

You have given a lot of information to this wiki, soon, we will have information to collect nationwide.

Do you collect rocks/minerals in FL? I have some fossil rock collected from Honeymoon Island, FL many years ago.

My parents collected shark teeth from the Peace River in FL some years ago, I always wanted to do it myself; but haven't made it.

Thanks again,

Pam

I edited the North Carolina WIKI myself just a few minutes ago with the info for one of my favorite places, Cherokee Ruby Mine, since it wasn't there already. Do you find this valuable?

Way to go! Thank you . That is just what we need. We are filling up all the states with sites. We already have the best National Directory on the Web, Take a look at Washington (Andy, Tom, and Paul home state), and Arkansas, South Dakato, to get a taste of what we are doing. The other pages are growing thanks to people like you. The Rockhounding for Dummies is every bodies favorite with contributions from serveral sources.

I added three more blanks on North Carolina if you want to add more. I also created a blank Franklin Page if you want to add any links or pics.
