NO luck finding agate here in AZ. I went to the top of Pinal Mtn. and followed a dry creek bed down the mountain for about an hour. I didn't find anything worth hauling back up to my car. Maybe I will have more luck on my next trip. I pick up some Bar Keepers Friend today so I am going to give it a try on my crystals.

Greetings and Salutations Ya'll
Haven't quite made it home yet but will be there tommorrow. I'm holding over in Yakima at a friends house. Just had to stop and show off the beautiful agates and brag abit about how rich and plentiful this adna Agate creek was for our C&T group. Confession #1....................NOBODY REMBERED their cameras!!!!!!!!!!!!can you believe that, knowing that would be a huge dissapointment for all who could not join us the AMAN purchased a cheapy and did manage to capture some memorable moments. Coming soon to your favorite wiki the adna story with pictures. Andy

I noticed you mention barkeeps. Is that to clean agates? I've had great success cleaning Lucas Creek material that's almost black using muriatic acid, diluted in water. soak it for 4-6 days and they're good as new. Do you find this valuable?

Yeah it does wonders.. its got oxalic acid in it and its very cheap. i can clean three five gallon buckets of stones for $2. Now if the vancouver water didnt have so much crap in it i could use tap water. but ive found that distilled water works best.. go figure :)

Yes DAn bar keepers friend is for cleaning Agates.
Well ya all here is the story of Adna
We met at about 7:30 at the only store in town. We greeted and chatted a bit then headed out. No one had a camera with them tho,,lol all of us left them in our ready to go spots at home,,lol. MIne was on the counter by the coffee pot and Andy's was on his truck seat. Leslie and Ron forgot theirs too so did Jake. I guess we was all just too excited to get going,,lol. Andy did purchase a camera at the store and got some pics. We headed out and got caught in some construction that slowed us down for about twenty minutes but that was all. We got to the parking area and it was a place I had been before and I showed the group some places to dig for wood just off the road about thirty feet. Every one got their packs ready and we started hiking. About a mile later we were at the creek. It only took a few minutes and the first agate hit the bucket. The weather was just right. cool clear and comfortable for digging or should I say flipping and scraping,,lol. Every one sort of fanned out and started finding stones. There was plenty of pet wood and jasper to go along with the agates. I found the only live crawdad tho. A few night crawlers and one snake also came into play through out the day,,lol. Leslie did a great impersonation of a turtle on its back shen she slid backwards off a rock she was sitting on but Andy was around the corner so no pic of it darn it,,lol. Leslie and Ron and Dad were great to dig with as were Andy and Jake. Lots of oohs and ahhs and check this one outs through out the day. Leslie said she came home with 25 lbs of agate and jasper and wood and Ron had just a bit more. Dad didn't weigh his but I figure he had at least 15 lbs of treasure. Andy cleared about 14 lbs and I came away with a good amount too. Jake hasn't said his haul yet. Every one was happy and wore out at days end.

Andy and I had a great visit. He got in early on Thursday so we had lots of sharing time. In fact we went well past his bed time,,lol. He had brought some treasure over with him and I shared some of mine. He even gifted me a piece of the Titanic which is a very cool stone. We exchanged a few more treasures and shared stories till midnight. Some where in there we ate KFC for dinner,,lol.
I cooked,,,lol. After the days dig we sat and visited some more and Andy made seafood Fettuccine which was awesome. After a few more stories and shared experiences and some spiritual sharing on both parts we called it a night early at about nine. I was out to get the wife before Andy got up and he left before I got back so He didn't get to meet my wife. I didn't get to wish him good journeys but he left a nice note. I thoroughly enjoyed his visit and hope to get him up to Lucas creek for a day there. I also told him of a fossil site near me and we talked of seting up a two day gathering for fossils and Agates in the future.\

Man it sounds like it was a good trip and a great time was had by all! Man when you start bringing in 20+ pounds of agates and stuff, sounds good. But it also sounds like you have to work a buit for them. And surRRReeeeee no camera! Where have I heard that before. Oh wait, I had the camera with me in the truck, but forgot to get is and take pics. I guess that is a bit worse than not having a camera. lol At least Andy should have a few pics.

Nice report Tom. What a kick! Geez, when Andy stopped by here he didn't offer to make any seafood Fettuccine for us! Man... lol I am sure you guys had a blast!

Looking forward to those agate pics or well any pics!!! hehe. Paul

It wasn't hard work it was fun work. I think the hike did the most wearing out,,lol. There was so much sharing and laughing and just plain good company. I didn't gather as much as the rest since I was watching out for this arm. But I am very happy with what I brought home and it gave me an excuse to visit more at the dig,,lol. I do wish I had a pic of Leslie doing her turtle show tho,,lol. too bad Andy missed it.

Well heck it is generally always fun work. Sure beats the heck out of going to regular work. lol You know if we could get everyone from WA together for an outing, there would be a bunch! What a great state and group of people. Yeah, no cameras and here ya go, probably the best pic of the year - Leslie and her turtle show and there ya go. You with no camera. However, I imagine that Leslie it pretty happy that no one did have a camera at least not right there when it happened. It must have been a riot. Looking forward to the pics of the finds man.. . Paul

yeah if we got all the washington diggers together at one site it would be a large group for sure,,lol. The locals would probably think they emptied a looney bin some where. But it would be fun.

Very nice Agates Jake well done.
Paul that is some fire you got pics of but where were the smores,,lol.

Hi Tom,
a question regarding the Oxalic acid/Bar keeper's freind. Can you use it to clean off all the residue aftera few days on a vib lap ? Cleaning out every last particle, between different grades of grit, with a brush soap and water is a pain.
