Greetings and welcome to the wiki. I am not from Kentucky, however if you go to the national directory on the menu on the left side and click on Kentucky you can find some areas to hunt and along with what it there to find. I'll save you a bit of time so here is the link to the Kentucky page. Hope there is something there close by for you to check out and it would be great if there are other in the area to chime in so you all could get together. Treasures in Kentucky: http://cash-and-treasures-wiki.travelchannel.com/page/Kentucky Again, welcome and the I wish you the best in your treasure hunts. Let us know how you do and what you find. I hunt in your area, but might not be back in the area until next spring. I have e-mailed you the name of the guide I use. I'd be glad for some company on my next venture. What do you want to look for? I really only look for rocks.Pam Do you find this valuable? |

"Hello i live in louisville kentucky, and would like to know if any one might know of some good places to go treasure hunting here.. are if anyone has a group in Kentucky i might join.."Right across the Ohio River from Louisville, is the Falls of Ohio State Park. I have been there several times, it is one of the finest fossil sites in the nation. Although a person can not collect on state park property there is ample collecting sites just a few miles from you in Indiana. (see Indiana National Directory). Kentucky is famous for Kentucky Agate. Kentucky Agate is the State Rock by act of the State Legislature on July 14, 2000, It is a sedimentary agate found in the Borden Formation of Early Mississippian Age. The agate is beautifully colored and contains bands, fortifications, and sometime plumes or moss formations. It can be found in the creeks and river drainage where it has been weathered out of the host rock in Estill, Jackson, Powell, Madison, and Rockcastle Counties in Kentucky. A club in the area is: Louisville, Kentucky Kyana Geological Society of Louisville, Kentucky Meets at 7:30pm the 3rd Tuesday of each month PNC Bank branch at the corner of US 42 & Lime Kiln Lane. Hey Mary, you want to listen to Bill ( aubreyrenolds ). The guy is a walking encyclopedia of rock hounding information. Just ask around, and you'll get more information than any store bought rockhound guide book can ever give you. While you're at it, click on Bills name above your post, and check out his profile page.Don Do you find this valuable? |
