Donations To A Local Native American Nature Center

Last year while out and about, We caught a glimps of a sign along side the road down around VA.. The sign read.. "Wolf Creek Indian Village" and of course with an arrow point the direction.. We always love adventures and headed in that direction. Once there we spoke with some of the caretakers and the director of the village. They explain how the village came to rest where it currently is today.. Seems Route 70 decided to make its way through and around the village and thus the village must be moved.. Well, everything turn out fine and this took place many years before we even knew about the village.. The point I'm getting at, At one time they were considering to allow nature and mineral groups to dig at or near the village. (again this was at one time) But soon after we left.. we sent them an email asking how it was going, and would we be able to dig on the lands.. The Director explain this would not be possible.. and then added, that week they had a break in and many of their items had been stolen. So I put together a care package of six large minerals to make up for some of the ones that stolen.. If by change your in that direction.. Look for the name tag associated with the minerals at the village: Donated By: Sisters Of The Stone
and btw.. I'm sure if your that, why not make a donation as well.

I congatulate you on helping to replace the lost minerals. It is a shame that people have to steal like that. IT not only harms those who were stolen from but also those who will no longer be able to see those items from that area. Do you have an e-mail address for them or contact infromation for those of us who can not travel there in person so we may be able to send something through the mail.

A nobel cause. I just sent a link to this page to the Wolf Creek Villege. I thought they may like to see what is written about them and, should they suddenly receive packages, they would know who started this.

What kinds of rock/minerals are native to their area? The fartherest I have collected is KY, but that might be close enough.

Sadly I do not recall what I sent them.. But after emailing last week to check up on them and give them our new site info.. The Director informed me that the museum and village was going under some "restructuring" and while in the conversation, The Director or Caretaker of the village stated they may place the donated mineral images online.. Seem the site could use a makeover, I'm hoping that the "restructuring" would allow them to better some of the thing they need.
As for what minerals could or would be found in the are, I have yet to determine this.. But I would have to say (Because my sister in-law lives close to the village) Unikite, Flint, Quartz would be in abundance there... Oh and of course arrow heads..
