Looks like the old phamplet. The old one needed updating anyway. Do they have a list of the new adopted rules?

Hmmm, I guess I will have to look a bit harder. The goldfish doc is a pdf, but they don't highlight or note the changes. Man the phamplet thing is nice. Before you had to fill out an application for hydraulicing permits on each body of water you wanted to prospect or in some cases one for certtain streches of the body of water. So one stream or river may have several permits needed. Then you had to have the permit with you at all times while prospecting or working. The phamplet is all inclusive. Maybe they are changing that. I am sure there are some changes pertaining to fish and the reparian boundries. I don't prospect anymore, but it would be interesting to see what the changes are.

Thanks for the info. If you happen apon the changes doc let me know.

Paul,
Probably the most threatening thing to the prospectors, hobbiest, collectors and the like is the language of the proposed legislation being considered for implementation, amendment etc..............by the lead entiety/agency. On the surface it may appear harmless or meaningless yet the very activity you may be engaged in is in jeprody of being banned, outlawed, and decalared a criminal act punishable by fine, imprisonment and or both. It is a high wire act to protect-preserve & defend our right, you know (WE THE PEOPLE) to access and enjoy the bounty of our Public Lands. Excuse my rocky ramblings...............:)

They sure make it hard to see the wording and proposed changes. The lead agency -who is that, I mean anyone other than the Dept of Game? There are those out there that would want to outlaw any access to public lands to everyone - well except their particular interest group. That is state and national wide. And with the new administration, one may really need to watch.

On a positive note, the updated rules adopted in November of 2008 cleared some things up for me. I had several sites I avoided collecting at due to the sites listed under collecting seasons. However, as it turns out those sites were listed as rockhounding using class 1 or class 2 prospecting tools. Casual scouting activities, and collecting rocks not in the water or on the bank of the water should be acceptable in most cases:) Just make sure you don't have any tools with you:)

Thanks,

Aaron

Andy thank you for getting the information on what is legal and what is not. There is a lot of confusion on both sides.
