Metal detecing South Dakota
Jan 21 2009, 11:13 AM EST | Post edited: Jan 21 2009, 11:13 AM EST
Does anyone know the laws in respect to metal detecting for gold in South Dakota?
Lots of old abandoned farms, old one room school houses and town gathering places to be detected in North East S.D.
I'd like to hook up with a few like minded folks, to check a few of them out.

I'm gettin too old to swing those big heavy detectors. Mine is a Minelab X-Terra 70, with a few extra coils. Works for me.

Don,The X-Terra 70 is a great detector.I use a Sovereign most of the time its not too bad mounted on a straight shaft. The Explorer is a nice detector and I agree the weight is a lot for any user no matter how young or physical condition. Thanks Ron Do you find this valuable?

If all goes well, and I can make a long enough trip west river, I'd like to try my detector out in the hills. Either gold or relics would make me happy.

The hills has so many old cabins and almost every stream had gold and if a person could get down near bed rock its there to be found with a metal detector. Man we have had light frost up in the hills a few times already, so you know what that means is coming. :) DB
