In the area that the seam agate was found there is a bluish colored agate that can be found. It is not what is known as Ellensburge blue. It is a very good looking stone and the color makes for nice cabs and freeform pieces.

Oh and yes you are right that just below the large seam agate is a nice blue and to the right of the blu is a small red jasper. There are also some very nice purple hued agates up there and what we call inside out carnelians. these are where the lighter banding is on the exterior of the stone and the heart is solid carnelian.

Tom,
Since I will never get to the area where the purple hued agates are and you or Jake probably will, PLEASE get a couple of pieces for me. My favorite color is purple. Thank you in advance for doing this for me.

Donna, I did not pick up either the seam agate or the blue one below it, which I never even saw. On my last trip up there I didn't see the seam agate, but the blue one might still be there. If the blue one is still there, I hope you end up with it.

Donna; you live in Kentucky and are wishing you could collect beautiful agate? You are setting on by far one of the most beautiful agates in the world. Google Kentucky Agate and you will see agates that will blow your socks off. Kentucky agate is highly prized and that is an understatement. It is not just red. It had swirls, bands, plumes of yellow, red, pink, blue you name it. If I lived in Kentucky I would be in agate heaven. A lover of agates judges quality on the variety of colors, patterns and clarity. Great agates are like a brilliant painting. No! It is far more breath taking than a master painting. I have some Kentucky and will post. That a gander at this agate and drool

Bill is right. I have seen pics of that kentucky agate and it will beat almost everything we have here.

I was able toget a few nice purple pieces today. all under a half pound but still nice. I will set them aside for you so the ext time we can get together I can give them to you.
John Stanton brought me some nice pieces from his side today and they are just too cool. some nodules from red top and some really sweet pieces from I think he said Hanson creek.

Thank you Tom. I'm praying for the family today. It is really sad to have to bury one of your children. I have never had to do that, but I can just imagine the pain they are going through.
Prayers to the family,
Willi

It is a hard day today knowing what is ahead. I have worked with and loved this youngman for fourteen years. I watched him go from a multi colored hair twisted up confused kid to a very centered and responsible youngman. About five years ago we took his little brother to sundance in Montana and since then donny has been working with him to help him find his center in life. unfortunately we now know that it was complications from an infection that caused the cardiac arrest. Donnies little brother had type one diabetes and the infection caused something to happen that attacked his haeart. So I will be meeting Donny and the family at four today and we will do the ceremony. I am donnies teacher and mentor but to me he is a son. I really am not looking forward to leading this event. This is only the second ceremony I have really not wanted to do. But I must and I will to the best of my ability. Thank you for your concern and prayers.

I have picked up a few blues. A fair amount of blue/grey but some genuinely blue to purplish. I also have some druzy with a pale but distinct purple tinge to it. All still in the bin and unwashed.

I will sort out and photo the blue toned stuff I have over the next few days. It might get me fired up to take the puppy badger hunting in e-burg.

I have been doing my homework. I saw a six pound piece as a kid. The most magical piece of rock I ever saw. I do not remember even a tinge of grey in the pure layers of blue. The oldtimer told me where he found it. You would not believe his description of the occurence. Blue was not particularly valuable at the time. He took the precise location to his grave a decade ago. It was hidden very well by then. My geologcal and historical research confirms what he said and gives me a place to start.

I was only six at the time. But I remember many things that cannot be spoken here without angering his spirit.

Yes, it is too early, but there are a few nice walks near town that produce once in a great while.

A secret like that deserves to be kept. Good luck to you on finding the place. If you do then make it a one man secret again. but make sure and post pics of what you find.
