"Yes I seem to recall that Jake and yourself were the receipiants of the 1st EASTSIDE/WESTSIDE C&T Agate Awards."
Was it Titanic that I cut into a heart pendant for your daughter? Andy if you get into your secrete stash I believe you can take them.

Yes it was Bill, indeed. The sheer size of those agates on the westside are unlike anything I've encountered in Eastern Wa. Humungous. However when it comes to fortification and banding or pure transparency I think we got a shot.

Color too. Some of your finds were solid colors through and through. Do not underestimate the Western Side you Easterners. I will kept your secret stash quiet until you win the prize.

Just reading all of everybodies talk about agates brings out my competitive spirit. Don't be surprised if I post a 100+ pound agate on here soon. All this talk is bringing out my urge to recover one for the prize. Do you find this valuable?

I am heartily impressed with the enthusiasm of all you wonderful people to participate in another friendly competiton of agate gathering. It is great to picture all those cute little smiling faces going,me too me too, lol. But alas and alack I fear that with the slow dawning of the vertual impossiblity to even come close to achieving the agate mastery that Andy and I have and that Jake is acquiring, not to forget Dan and shaka, that those smiling little faces will soon be pouting little faces,,lol
Shear size and pounds does not neccesarily make a winning entry. Color, composition, banding or internal uniqueness are all important.
Yet there has to be a start and stop date. I think we started last years in april when all the areas were pretty much open and snow free. I think we ended it in June. Maybe Andy can remember better but if that sounds like a good time line then lets do it. Agates gathered before and after the start and stop dates do not count. but they can be shared for all to enjoy and recieve honorable mention

Tom, I complement you on your wisdom. Size is only one factor. A true connoisseur of agates looks to the soul of the stone. Colors, patterns, bands, plumes, fortifications, dendritic structure and that indefinable inter beauty that only a skilled hunter can truly appreciate. Yes A new quest. The most fantastic; the most magnificent AGATE of the season. There must be a trophy.

Bill you know that is very well said. Look at the "soul of the stone". That is so ture with anything be it rock, mineral, gem, even a piece of wood. It is not the size that makes the trophy. Thanks Bill.

Thats not what my wife say's,,,lol
But seriously as both Bill and Paul said I have seen one ounce agates that I would have traded fity pounds for. I love those uniquely colored and wierdly shaped rocks and when you throw in some swirls and bands and varigated patterns then my ears start to wiggle.
