"Dig with powder."Sounds good to me Dan! Powder diggin' is a little easier than the regular diggin stuff! ;-) That is a great picture too Dan. That piece could be popped out of there fairly easily the way it looks. Though I would defer to Bob and his expertise. It would be nice to know how deep it is. What an awesome stone! Oh man I got that dribbly drool stuff now. lol Paul Do you find this valuable? |

A neighbor here in Springade found a 2 carat diamond last week.A canary diamond weighing 2.04 carats has been dubbed the "Easter Sunrise Diamond" by the Springdale man who found it Thursday at Crater of Diamonds State Park. Glenn Worthington said he was rinsing gravel from the public search area at the park when he spotted the diamond atop a screen that lets water and tiny dirt particles through while trapping larger objects. Worthington and his wife, Cindy, said they don't plan to cut or sell the diamond. Bill He said he dubbed the gem the Easter Sunrise Diamond when he saw it glowing in the screen full of gravel. You could add the great e-bay diamond swindle of 2008... Cliffs: guy buys Indian diamonds, 'finds' them at Crater of Diamonds, sells them on e-bay.http://www.fakeminerals.com/?p=11 Do you find this valuable? |

"Me a Responsible Person person. ah ya right.. ;-o lol You notice how quiet Dan got when we started talking about boomers and that big gem stone? I think we are making him nervous. lolHi Paul, Only quiet because I'm dreaming about getting back underground - I love that kind of stuff - I use to pay prospectors a case of beer to dig open entrances to old adits just so I could get in and map them. I lost one field assistant in the Mary Ellen gold mine - an old Chinese mine that we had to crawl through. After climbing half way out of the decline, he froze - discovered he was claustrophobic and couldn't move. After some serious coaching we got him out. He quit geology and is now an electrical engineer - guess I was responsible for helping him find his new career. Dan Dan Do you find this valuable? |

"Hi Paul,Hey Dan, that is one place you can truly find some cool air in that hot desert you rare living in now. I enjoyed going underground in the hot summer months too. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter - depending on where you where from the ventilation system right at teh end of a vent tube one could get quite cold in the winter time. lol So you assisted in a career change for a geologist. lol That was probably a rather scary event for all concerned. As you were probably trapped on the inside of the mine and he didn't want to move. Yikes. lol I can relate to freezing though. When I first started rock climbing (I never got any good at it) I was working my way up and over an overhang and took a fall. Belaying works. lol Anyway, once I got settled back on to the rock, I really couldn't do much for a few minutes. I was spooked for sure. I did eventually make the overhang and on up to the top. But for those few minutes it was flat out scary. So like not only are you an exploration geologist, you are also a employment counselor. lol Paul Do you find this valuable? |

Yes it was a bit scary as I had never experienced anyone freezing like that. We had a 120 foot incline (on wooden ladders) and at one point, the ladder was offset by about 1 to 2 feet, so we had to reach over. My field partner would not budge and was sweating. After some discussions and pointing out that we would have to leave him their for the bats, we finally got him to finish the climb out of the shaft. Dan Do you find this valuable? |

That would be a good incentive. lol Even though those bats probably only eat bugs, but just the same a very good incentive. :-) Paul Do you find this valuable? |

That may not be a bad idea. There may be need for it some time in the future if you have any more assistants that well, ah, may require your expertise in the future. ;-) You got any areas to explore lined out near you? But I wish I could find someone with money who would like to explore diamonds. Also working on a book related to my experiences (including field assistants) in searching for gold and diamonds - having fun with it. My last two field assistants survived. Although one buried our 4-wheel drive in the only snow drift for 200 miles (last year). Couldn't believe it, it was like a magnet attracted to iron. He could have gone right, left, straight, backwards, and instead he drove right into the dang thing. Dan Do you find this valuable? |

It will be interesting to see what you find, if you are allowed to let us know, what you find in Pennsylvania farmland. So snowdrifts are magnets, at least to some. lol to funny. I am sure this book of yours will be interesting plus humorous. Sounds like a kick. Have fun! Paul Do you find this valuable? |

I've talked to the farmer and there will be no problem with sharing the information - I'll take lots of photos and hopefully he has some nuggets on this property. This could be interesting, or it could be a bust - either way, I get paid, but it would be a lot more fun if he actually has what he claims. Well I'm off to rescue Johnny Walker - he's in town with a broken down RV. Dan Do you find this valuable? |
