nows the time

I missed you guys, my old pc fried and had to wait to get a new one, but just this last weekend we was able to go to lake cumberland at the conley bottoms boat ramp, the last time we was there I was finding fossils along the shore line, but now that they are keeping the lake levels way down you can find fossils every where. I will be posting pics soon. The main ones that I was finding were crinoids-taxocrinus, I have a fossil guide so I looked them up and I found a few clam fossils. So if you are in the southeast kentucky area you might want to check out the shores of lake cumberland, they will be having the lake down for a few more years.

Hi bluerock,Name is Tom, I am going to be spending a week at the end of July on Wisdom Dock on the Dale Hollow Lake. I might just have to go and check out Cumberland. Let me know if you know of any locations near Albany, KY to find some Kentucky Agate. Tom Do you find this valuable? |

HI Tom,We lived in Burksville for quite a few years. Near Albany and Dale Hollow lake. Any creek beds are good for fossils and geodes. You must look out for private property as you might get shot. Yes Really !!! Will pick the brain and let you know if I can think of any other suggestions. Tim Do you find this valuable? |

"Thanks TimTom it sounds like you have it made. Even if your wife's family has nothing they probably know enough of the neighbors to see if they would let you on to hunt their land as well. Have a great trip! Paul Do you find this valuable? |

the boat launch that I mentioned(conley bottoms) is just a hop skip from albany go north on 127 till you get to 90 then take a right and go to monticello and then the boat launch is in that area, cource there is loads of boat launches in the area, most are owned by the core of engeneirs(sp), I dont know of any spots for finding ky agatesbut I have found a few in driveway gravel, I really need to post some new pics, hope you have a nice trip, and the pc should be good for quite a while, new Dell with vista.

You can also find lots of marine fossils. They are in the Mississipian/ red clay formation. Holds a lot of Crinoids pieces as well as corals and some geodes. The great Ordovician grey limestone holds bi-valve shells, corals and verious other marine fossils. You can find these just about anywhere. Look in road cuts, valleys(hollows back there) and creek beds. Hopes this helps you find a lot of nice things on your trip and will post them when you get back.Tim and Sharon
