"Hey Tom, great to see you back on line. I agree that someone who has the right computer knowledge should copy all of the info on the wiki. If we should have to start our own site, we'd be miles ahead of the game. Anyone out there that knows how to do it? I'm a computer dummy, so would be little if any help.Running and setting up a social network is whole different ballgame than being a Web master of a personal Web site. Even with templates, you really need a team of people with expertize in SQL (Structured Query Language), PHP (a general-purpose scripting language), XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language, which I know), XML, (Extensible Markup Language), CSS (Cascading Style Sheets used with XHTML and XML, which I also know), Javascript, and it doesn't hurt to be proficient in the programing language known as PEARL. One person could not possibly manage a social network (which is what this is) like this alone. Even for highly trained professionals in the field of IT and social networking it is a difficult task, especially when having to deal with high-level malware authors out there who have declared war on the Web. And then these sites, just by virtue of their complexity and in many cases because of poorly written code, need constant maintenance, because things do go wrong quite often. I manage two personal Web sites and I'm sick of those! And those two sites are nothing compared to the complexities involved in managing a social network; my sites are child's play compared to this! No sane person would attempt such an undertaking unless they were being paid VERY BIG BUCKS! What can I say? Social networks come and go! This one unfortunately happened to be based on the popularity of a TV show. And all TV shows eventually come to an end. So my advice is to get the email addresses all of the people that you want to stay in contact with, before you one day try to come to this forum and discover that it no longer exists! P.S. If you want to see the complexities involved in the code of just this one page, then have a look at this: http://cash-and-treasures-wiki.travelchannel.com/page/Creating+a+Social+Network%3A+What%27s+entailedThis is the actual code for just this one page. Would you like to be the one to figure out what exactly has gone when something does go wrong, and it invariably does, with code like this. And this is only one page! This page right here! No thank you! Eric Do you find this valuable? |

Hey at least here on the Westcoast and on charter, there is a series or season 1 shows back to back for like 3 or 4 hours. Get them recorders running.

"That is a very important item for me and a few others of us who have spent countless hours and days making content.I am researching setting up a new site. Bob, Tom and I have been putting our heads together about where to land. There are better site formats than Wet Paint. Also a site managed by the forum is better than the Wild West we have had at times on this site. I was asking for a delete pictures options because I had no desire to turn my property over to TC but the promises have not happened. Bill Do you find this valuable? |

Personally, I think the TC would be crazy to shut down this wiki. I wonder if they've noticed the 8 new members today? And the day's still young. These are all people who joined after watching treasure hunter / cash & treasure. I question their wisdom for canceling treasure hunter. Good programs = lots of viewers = good ratings = happy sponsors. Don Do you find this valuable? |

And, I have noticed the new members. Like Bill, Dan and I have talked about this and are looking into an alternative site should this site go down. But, even though TC will not be airing new episodes of TH, they still will be rerunning old episodes. I noticed they were airing old C&T episodes this morning. The wiki itself from wetpaint is free. It doesn't cost the TC anything for this space. But it is a part of the TC Web site, and that does cost them money and depends on advertising. I don't know why they set it up like this. I'll bet you half the people who write comments on the TH page, don't even realize that this wiki exists! That shows you what airheads TV executives are. Remember when Ben the moderator first came here and said he didn't even know that all of us were here? Well, I'll bet the stupid executives at the TC don't know we're here either. They pay attention to the TC page and not the wiki. Well....whose fault is that? Certainly not ours. I'm telling you TV execs. are idiots. You can tell that by just seeing all the crap they put on TV! LOL Eric Do you find this valuable? |

In fact, I downloaded the piece months ago! LOL I also have that episode recorded on VHS. I could tell how much cleaner the crystals looked. The specimen look a hundred times better after you guys cleaned it! I thought using baking soda was so cool for sandblasting crystals! Yeah, I wish there could have been more too. But who knows? Maybe some other network might pick up the show. Eric Do you find this valuable? |

Hey Bob. I've been curious ever since that episode. What make of sand blasting cabinet is that? also. where did you find a small blaster gun like that? As a retired sheet metal mechanic, I've done my share of sand blasting, but have never seen such a small gun. I love the idea of using baking soda as the blasting medium.Don Do you find this valuable? |

As a retired sheet metal mechanic, I've done my share of sand blasting, but have never seen such a small gun. I love the idea of using baking soda as the blasting medium.Hi Don, The cabinet I built from plywood, for about 20 bucks. Just a box with arm holes (cut the sleeves off an old sweatshirt for the dust guards around the arms). The glass is window glass, supported at the top with padded cabinet hinges, and a gasket at the edges. Safety glass would be better, and if anyone besides me were to use it ongoing, I'd switch to that. If you only use baking soda, the glass lasts forever. Since I occasionally use 10 micron glass bead, the window is replaced about once a year. There's a light inside and a dust collector port. The dust collector is a whole house vac system I bought on Craig's List for 50 bucks. Its mounted in a separate room of my shop so the howl doesn't drive me crazy. That sucker does suck! The media supply and gun is made by Crystal Mark ... Swamblast EV-2 is the current model. Pricey (around $2k new), and worth every penny. http://crystalmarkinc.thomasnet.com/item/sandblasters/micro-sandblaster/6046-1?&seo=110 Mine is an EV-1, about 15 years old. I use it heavily, sometimes 30 hours/week. The gun tips are available in .5 to 4 mm sizes, orifice is corundum, so last quite a while with soda. The feed is controlled by foot pedal, the EV-1 is air controlled, the EV-2 is electronic. The gun is as easy to hold and direct as a pencil, works like a magic wand. Bob Do you find this valuable? |

Thanks for the info Bob. As you said, it's a bit pricey. Especially for a guy who would just use it for hobby work. But then, us hounds have been known to go a bit crazy when buying new equipment. ( I'm currently taking a hard look at that Covington sphere machine ). Maybe I can find a less expensive cabinet blaster with a small gun. Harbor Freight used to have one listed in their catalog. Thanks again.Don Do you find this valuable? |

Bob has all sorts of neat tools and stuff in his shop. I wish I had looked closer at the box Bob, it looked like a purchased enclosure. Nice Job. lol Of course I was under the influence of some excellent stout and in awe of rooms of rocks. :-o hehe Don I have several soda blasters from Harbor Freight. They work well, my biggest problem is the lack of air supply. I need a larger compressor. They don't have the best-feed system, but they do work. They do not come with different sized nozzles either. I have a 10 lber plus a little itty bitty one. I don't have an enclosure as of yet, but I can see one in my future. We just blast outside of course with all the safety gear and a good respirator. My next purchase will be one of those water guns like Bob has. I would like to try that to get into those fine crevices had flush out that dirt and clay that seems to be impervious to the blasting. Bob does have some neat toys in his shop. lol Paul Do you find this valuable? |
